Bumping this because I still think it's a savvy way to improve this team without really any risk attached. Their individual skill sets and toughness would be refreshing.
I don't see much sense in acquiring older vet role players to improve the team this season. The focus should be entirely on setting the team up for significant improvement next season and thereafter. That means playing the young guys, including Culver, Okogie, KBD, Layman, Martin, Nowell and even McLaughlin). It means finding the best deals out there after Dec. 15 to acquire draft picks and/or young guys with upside for Teague, Napier and possibly even Covington. And I'm probably in the minority now, but I'd be shopping Wiggins, although unlike last season, I wouldn't trade him just to move him off the payroll.
We've definitely begun seeing some regression to the mean with Wiggins' scoring efficiency of late. Not good. Let's hope it's just part of the typical up and downs of a season and we see an uptick again soon.
Hes still taking good shots and attacking the rim at a real high rate. I think hes still top 10 in points in the paint or tied with doncic for most among non bigs. Some of those misses just rim out or the refs swallow their whistles. We all see the non calls that kat and wiggs get compared to other players.. But, when his shots arent falling, hes been getting to the line and adding something else like boards, assists, steals or blocks.
Even wiggs shooting slumps look different this year.

Yep. At least his shot selection has improved. I don't think anybody is assuming he'll be a marksmen shooter or anything. He'll still struggle with efficiency at times even when taking better shots.

Yeah, he's never been a big time marksmen from any distance, so the key to his efficiency is a) taking better shots, and b) keeping the turnovers down while getting others good looks. I'm fine with a volume scorer in the mid to low .500s in terms of TS% as long as it means he's finding others for good looks and not turning the ball over. But if he's both an inefficient shooter AND the assist/TO ratio is down, he can quickly go from being a positive to a negative.

I get where you're coming from, Lip, but what young player(s) would the two incoming players in my proposal be blocking or impeding the development of? Culver, Layman, Okogie, and Bates-Diop would still be fully entrenched in the rotation in my scenario while Nowell, McLaughlin, and Martin all have things to continue working on at the G-League level. Graham and Napier's minutes would be reduced considerably, which is likely a positive in itself and Gibson would become the first big off the bench, which is basically what Dieng's role is right now -- so, no harm done there either.
My thought process would be to get two veterans for the price of one that arguably fit what the Wolves are currently doing and trying to implement systematically. The hope or idea is that Ellington would revert back to the level of shooter/player he was over the last three years in Miami in a reserve role. And that player would be a godsend to this team right now simply by being able to consistently knock down perimeter jumpers and play uptempo adequately.

But why would the Knicks do that?
[Note: I believe the Knicks have both options next season, right? They'd be on the hook for Dieng's $17M.]

1 guy from the knicks that I want on the team is marcus morris. He can play and guard both forward spots and could be interchangeable with covington. He also brings toughness that we sorely need.
teague/2nd round pick for morris and payton? Its basically a swap of expirings(payton has 1m guaranteed). The 2nd round is needed for the knicks to consider this deal.

I see your logic, Cam. But I'd rather allocate Gorgui's minutes to Reid than Gibson. I'd prefer to allocate Graham's minutes to Nowell, KBD and Martin. Layman could get more of Graham's minutes too when he returns. KBD is currently getting too few minutes in my judgment. And I'd prefer allocating Napier's limited minutes to McLaughlin and/or Culver and Nowell. Getting a few more wins this season by acquiring Ellington and Gibson does nothing, in my view, to advance the long-term improvement of this team next season and thereafter towards the goal of becoming a true contender.
I love the Bucks but you saw today why I have doubts Milwaukee can beat the 76ers in a 7 game series. If you're going to live by the 3 you have the potential to die by it. At halftime Giannis and the Lopez brothers were 0-9 from behind the arc. You have that many empty trips against Philly and you are going to be in trouble. As long as Embiid can keep Giannis from getting to the tin, the Bucks will struggle against that team.

D'Angelo Russell is trash. Overpaid, no good, weird haircut, too many smiles, reportedly has ice in his veins which can't be healthy long-term. I want him having nothing to do with this team. The Wolves are much better with -- *checks notes* -- Shabazz Napier at point guard! Plus, he'll just stunt Jarrett Culver's growth! No way, Josè. Not today. Not on my watch.
