Josh Richardson question
I don't know much about Josh Richardson. Can anyone give an explanation? I'm assuming he would be superior to Derrick Rose at shooting guard. I like him but mostly because of his contract and I'm assuming he's not a ball dominant player.
Is he good on defense?
Is he that good and that's the reason the Heat won't put him on the table for Butler?
Anyway, any insights into Josh Richardson and how he would fit on the wolves if we got him would be appreciated.
Thanks.

- Just a solid two-way wing. He'd instantly be our best wing (unfortunately).
- Has prototypical wing size and blocks a lot of shots by wing standards.
- Decent jumper, made 38% of his 3's with OK-ish volume last year.
- Handles and floor vision are improving, as his assist percentage keeps creeping up from his rookie year.
- Defensively gets a lot of deflections and generally took the toughest assignment for the Heat.
- Prefers catch-and-shoot jumpers and pull ups to going really hard to the rim - does not draw many fouls.
- 3 years of NBA experience, but appears to be still improving while on a fairly modest contract.

Re: Josh Richardson question
Thanks for the reply Q. Butler appears significantly better than Richardson so I find it amazing that Miami won't even offer Richardson in a deal. I wonder what there thinking is. I would assume if Richardson were in the deal, that would be enough to start the parameters of a trade, but maybe not.
Miami would be significantly better with butler and he would more than likely sign there. It's not that easy to get a top 15 player. Something doesn't add up.
I'm missing something.

My opinion is that Miami is drooling over having two wings in Butler and Richardson that can switch everything and guard multiple positions. Both can handle the ball too. So the idea of Butler-Richardson is super enticing to the Miami brass since defensively they are such a good pair for today's NBA. If you take Richardson out of the equation, now Butler is having to carry a huge load on both ends of the floor whereas may be on defense he can roam a bit if not always asked to guard the opponent's best wing.
The other scenario may be that Miami is willing to give up Richardson, but not Richardson AND Bam AND a 1st rounder, etc.....perhaps the sheer volume of young/future talent we're requesting is what is preventing them from pulling the trigger.

Re: Josh Richardson question
How about Whiteside, Bam, Winslow plus next two unprotected 1sts for Butler and Dieng to Miami? I wouldn't mind gambling on that. But then maybe that blows up and Miami ends up making the playoffs both seasons.

Re: Josh Richardson question
I wouldn't trade for something without a wing.
I would think hard about taking back Whiteside and Richardson for butler and Dieng. Not sure if they would do that, but if it were to happen I'm pretty towns could play power forward 20 minutes a night while sharing center duties with Whiteside. We definitely need a wing though and a cost contained one at an age close to towns and Wiggins is so enticing.

Re: Josh Richardson question
Would you trade Jimmy Butler for Malcolm Brogdon and Thon Maker? Tell me how that's all that different from Josh Richardson and Bam Adebayo.
Granted, the Miami duo is better and more attractive, but they are indeed comparable. I highly doubt anyone would trade their star player for a package centered around Brogdon and he compares favorably next to Richardson.

Re: Josh Richardson question
Richardson seems like a pretty solid player, but he also seems like the type of player a team that has him would over rate like us with Lavine. A player where the teams loves him, but another team may not even know who he is. I think if Richardson only had one or two years left on his contract and was due a big new deal soon, they would have traded him already, but the value of his at least 3 year contract plus 4th year player option is appealing at the dollar amount. It is curious that both Bam and Richardson have been sitting out of the first 3 pre-season games with minor injuries...they could be holding them out so they don't get hurt if a trade goes down, or maybe they are just injured. I would be curious to hear if the trade would go down if we took Dieng out of the deal, because if they are willing to do the deal without Dieng than I say screw it and live with him!

Why do I get the bad feeling we'll be getting Waiters, Whiteside and a pick?
