And in return we get...?

Relief of Dieng's contract I assume. I honestly don't think the Kings are gonna do that deal though. They like spending their cap space on vets and making offers to FAs. Until they don't do that I'm assuming that's the route they will take.

If I were Thibs I wouldn't do that deal. We'd be giving up a future 1st to clear Gorgui's salary and the only thing it would give us is the ability to use our full MLE and Biennial Exception this summer to sign two free agents. But who would those free agents be, can we be sure they'd sign here and how much would they truly move the needle for us? My view is you only trade first round picks if they are part of a deal that you're certain will land a needle-mover in return -- not an MLE bench player.

Just to be clear I wasn't advocating for the deal. There is basically zero chance of it happening but if you actually could unload Dieng's entire contract for a protected 1st round pick...you/I would have to consider it. That's a ton of money gone. If a deal like that was out there the Lakers and or the Knicks would already have looked to do it.

Looks like Lance is signing for the "Room" exception, just like Crawford did for the Wolves last year. This means the Lakers have about another 16 mil to spend in order to. I wonder if they will retain Brook Lopez?

I have a good friend that I went to college with played ball with for a long time that's a Lakers fan. I'm happy for him. He is a good guy, a true Lakers fan (not a bandwagon guy and also rational about their place in the league the last few years etc) and a good basketball fan in general.

My friend was getting all excited about these Lakers players (in addition to possibly adding Leonard) and the possible defense they could play. I joked about Lebron playing regular season defense. Then I looked up Lance's numbers. He was one of the worst players in the entire league in RPM and DRPM. CARMELO had him as negative player espcially on the defensive end of the ball. I found this surprising. I decided not to share those with him just let him enjoy it. ;) I see some reason why the Pacers may have been willing to let him go and I feel less bad about him not being here.

The best part of the Lakers is going to be the power dynamic of Lebron and Magic when this roster doesn't live up to the hype. Unless of course they get Kawahi too.
