I've read/heard a lot about KAT having a "down" season last year. Well...
Sure. He scored 4 fewer ppg. But his averages all went up... basically off the charts.
54.5% fg / 42.1% 3fg / 85.8% ft / 64.6% TS
Those are absurd. The one difference is that he took 4 fewer shots per game... nearly 2 fewer shots than a guy like Wiggins. That's inexcusable.
I chronicled his lack of touches, especially down the stretch, last season. It cannot happen again. Maybe part of that was on KAT for not fighting for his spots or something? But I have to think that when a guy is that efficient... it must be a team directive to get him the ball. And that's on coaching and other players.
KAT is the future of this team. He's arguably the most efficient big man in the game. USE THAT AS AN ADVANTAGE.
Are we underestimating KAT?

He's super efficient. I do think the fighting for touches thing was something last year, especially in the playoffs. He was awful in the playoffs.

Here's a snippet I saw on Hoopshype: "Jimmy Buckets, otherwise known as Jimmy Butler, of the Minnesota Timberwolves, also shouldn't be trusted in these moments. Despite the nickname, he only converts a little over 21% when his team is down one possession in the final two minutes."
So another question is whether Jimmy Butler is overrated. He misses 15+ games per season with various injuries, doesn't seem to be much of a leader and isn't particularly good in the clutch. He says he's open to playing with LeBron. Duh!! But is LeBron open to playing with him?

If i recall, in end of 4th q shots in order to win or tie; jimmy was 0-11. That was more than everyone else on the team combined.
Jimmy 0-11
Kat 1-4
Crawford 0-1
Wiggs 1-1
Imo, wiggs should have gotten more opportunities. Thibbs' lack of creativity had alot to do with that mess.

You are overreacting to small sample size in the clutch. Jimmy in his last year with Bulls he shot 48% in those situations and shot 62% when the team was down a possession with 10 seconds or less in the game. You are overracting to a small bad sample size with the Wolves. The Wolves were a 3 seed before he got hurt, they played .500 ball when he was not there. The wolves were in the 97th percentile in pt differential, 86th percentile in pts per possession, 96th percentile in defensive pts per possession when Jimmy was on the Floor compared when he was off the floor. Compared to the rest of the NBA, the wolves were in the 92nd percentile in pt differential, 94th percentile in pts per 100 possessions and the Wolves were 68th percentile when Jimmy was on the court. When Jimmy was on the court last year the Wolves were damn good.
Comparing that to KAT (who is the wolves most talented player) compared to the rest of the NBA. 85th percentile in pt differential (Jimmy 92nd percentile), 95th percentile in pts/100 possessions (Jimmy 94th percentile) and 42nd percentile in defense per 100 possessions (Jimmy 68th percentile).
There are questions about Jimmy leadership and Jimmy could probably handle things better than he is but Jimmy comes from a different mindset then the young guys. I am guessing Jimmy doesn't like that KAT plays PUBG to the early morning nights before games. I think Jimmy expects a lot from his teamates and probably more than they can provide. But Jimmy is a a 2nd tier star in this league and the Wolves had the 5th best record in the NBA before he got hurt. He is not overrated one bit.

It's almost like Jimmy was a top 5 guy for MVP before he got hurt last year lol

My only issue was that Jimmy would force shots vs passing to the open player in the clutch moments. He's a very good passer but took the tougher shot vs letting a teammate make an easier one.
