The Spurs would need to unload good players to sign CP3. I'd gladly take Gasol and Danny Green off their hands. Green is getting just 10Million a year, a huge bargain and he'd really help us at wing. Gasol would give us a good year and be an expiring. Since we'd be doing the Spurs a favor, I see no reason to part with any valuable assets to accommodate the deal. I'd give them a highly protected second rounder or rights to Dubs or other foreigner we hold rights to if we need to include something to balance the trade.

If the Spurs were willing to move Green I bet they would have plenty of suitors even with basically 1 year left on his deal. The Spurs could probably demand a late 1st round pick and get it.

I would think the Spurs would cut ties with Parker before Gasol or Green and I wouldn't be surprised if CP3 took less money so that the Spurs could keep most of their core intact, so the article makes some assumptions I don't necessarily agree with. That said, if it did play out the way the author suggests, this would be the best way to take advantage of our capspace. Its similar to when Dallas took Harrison Barnes and Bogut to accomodate the Warriors signing of KD.

Mills is not really a stop gap. He can shoot and move around the floor well, but he's not really a PG. He's a SG in a PG's body. He doesn't create much. He's pretty much shoot it or move it. That works in a system with a ton of ball movement like they have, but we run way too much PnR and isolation offense for him to be a good fit here. We need a true dribble drive guy who can score the ball and make plays off that penetration.

You are right although I will say a SG or combo guard with those skills would be nice to have on this team coming off the bench right? And no I don't think Mills is coming here to be a bench player.

I don't think we definitely need a dribble drive guy. Thibs showed a variety of offensive options that were effective last season. Having 5 players that could shoot on the floor would be sweet for us.

I also wonder if the Spurs would find a way to do a 3-team deal to unload Aldridge to get CP3. Might be a win for them and someone might still take Aldridge. The question would be, what would the Clippers get back.

Dallas took Barnes... but not at a bargain. He got a max deal.
