One takeaway from Chicago: five scouts around NBA I trust all basically shook their heads at how much talent Wolves have (& soon will have)

Interesting, Cool. If the scouts are all blown away by the Wolves' talent, then you know Thibs, as a consummate basketball/NBA guru, shares those sentiments. That explains why he doesn't seem desperate and why he continues to reaffirm his intent to build around our current young core of Andrew, KAT and and Zach. And Thibs has to be excited about having a top 6 draft pick and nearly $30 million in cap space this summer. He and his front office team need to make the most of those opportunities.

I was reading old draft reports on KAT coming out of college. The consensus was that he'd be a really good NBA defender. And we all know analysts had the same view of Wiggins. Looking at players like Giannis, Paul George and others, the 4th season is often the break-out season for one-and-done players coming into the NBA. Wiggins and KAT have already established themselves as elite or near-elite NBA scorers. KAT has already established himself as an elite rebounder. And LaVine is already an excellent NBA three-point shooter. Last season was a big disappointment. But talent wins out in the end, so I remain optimistic.

FWIW Wolfson reports on his latest podcast that PJ Tucker has the Wolves on his radar.

Also Jon Leuer talked highly about SVG and how as a player you love playing for guys like Stan and Thibs that are intense because you know they are doing everything possible to try and help you and put you in a position to win. Obviously he isn't going to say negative stuff but what he said made a lot of sense coming from a competitive athlete. It reminds me of what Pat Riley told JVG after his first year as an assistant if NBA players see you help them get better and win they will allow you to coach them.

That's the only reason Thibs can get away with absolutely berating his players at times as well as how hard he pushes them in general. If he wasn't the top defensive mind of our generation along with the fact that he he doesn't scream to be a hardass persona, he does it because he is as passionate as any player on the court, look at his face during timeouts when he talks to his team that manic look in his eye you can't fake that lol

Players see his funny antics during games but they also see his revolutionary defensive tactics, and absolute obsession with winning behind that.

Here's my offseason plan as of today.

- Draft Lauri Markkanen at #7.
- Sign PJ Tucker to be our wing defender.
- Sign Jodie Meeks to be our 3 point specialist.
- Sign Taj Gibson.

Markkanen and Meeks add 3 point shooting. Tucker can also hit a 3 but really is added for his toughness and defensive prowess on the wing. Gibson is the hard nosed vet that will rebound and defend.

PG: Rubio/Dunn/Tyus
SG: Wiggins/LaVine/Meeks
SF: Tucker
PF: Gibson/Markkanen/Bjelica
C: Towns/Dieng/Aldrich

LaVine is super 6th man and brought on slowly after the injury. Tucker and Gibson set the tone defensively by starting. Wiggins starts at the 2 but plays plenty of 3. Dieng plays both the 4 and 5.
