In my opinion, our 6th man wing either needs to be a 3-point sniper or shutdown defender. Bazz is neither. I just can't see him back here.

Interesting info, Matt. I'd really like to keep Bazz. As Thibs said, he brings toughness and that's something we really need on this roster. But bad franchises like the Nets tend to pay big bucks for players like Bazz. It makes no sense for the Nets. They've bottomed out and need to build by drafting potential stars. Paying a lot of money to someone like Bazz doesn't do anything for their franchise. The Wolves already have their young potential stars. Guys like Bazz filling in around those potential stars makes more sense for us. But it's not a make-or-break issue for us.

There is no reason for them just to sit there and not spend any money either. The Nets aren't a destination except they have opportunity to offer so it's tough for them to bring in anyone unless they pay up. Even if they overpay if they find some legit players with their lower draft picks those guys will be cheap and by the time they will get paid a guy like Bazz or whoever else they want to sign will be able to come off the books. Now if they overpay for like 3 guys that's gonna be a problem at some point. If they can make some of those cast offs look kinda good especially from 3 then maybe they can make Bazz more worthwhile and it's pretty easy to say he has shown more positives than a guy like Justin Hamilton or Spencer Dinwiddie.

I actually disagree with you. They don't have their pick again next year so why not pay big bucks for 2 to 3 years on guys that are young and maybe could be impact full in a bigger role.

Why not take the risk when they don't have draft picks. 2 year deals and give a max to lavine. Smart in my opinion

T Gibson (loves Thibs obviously but preference is to stay in OKC)
JJ Redick
Patrick Patterson
Ugh now I can't remember but I think there was a 4th solid player.

He also said when Thibs and Layden met with Bazz for his exit interviews they indicated they would really like him back and see him as a piece of the future and they value him. Wolfson said the Nets are a team he could see offering him a big deal that would really test that which is obvious speculation.

He is having David Thorpe on his next podcast and he said Thorpe said the Wolves ran a college offense this year without creatively. Should be interesting to here what he has to say.

That scares me if they really want Bazz back.. I don't want to see us offer anything more than Brandon Rush type money and it might be best for the Wolves and Bazz if he gets a fresh start somewhere else. Hopefully, they were just being Minnesota nice.

Listened to both podcasts and really didn't really learn anything new about our free agent situation. They just were spitballing names like we do.

Actually, the discussion on JK's podcast was that Thibs courtside mannerisms may scare away some potential free agents.

Well Jon basically said the same thing as Wolfson. To get guys you have to overpay because of a bunch of reasons. Honestly I don't think Thibs yelling or whatever is gonna keep many guys away. Wolfson brought up Gibson who likes Thibs. A few players are going to look at what Thibs did in Chicago and see he had plenty of guys of varying talents to play well for him. If people don't want to come play for Thibs that's fine because to some extent they probably aren't the guys that this team needs anyway.
