I have a couple concerns with Green. He's not young so I don't think we can expect much more improvement. I think he'll be 28 soon. Memphis almost certainly would resign him since he's restricted and I don't think he's the guy I want to make a crazy offer for. If we are trying to poach restricted free agents, Otto Porter is a much better player and is three years younger. I'd also go after restricted free agent Covington before Green since he is a much better defender than Green and can shoot 3s and is also more than 2 years younger.

PS: Did some digging on Green and saw that he got suspended three times in college (conduct detrimental to the team).

The time to chase Covington may have passed. Remember just a few months ago when Philly fans were booing him every time he touched the ball... until he hit the game-winning shot vs. the Wolves?

Since I play fantasy hoops... he's been on my radar for awhile. He's not a good shooter, but just enough of a threat. The thing with Covington is his length. I saw recently that even though he's 6'7"... he has a 7'2" wingspan.

Overall, I dig Porter. He's improved every year (my pet fascination lately). I'd need to see more splits/advanced stats though. Is he a guy capable of doing his own thing... or is he more of a byproduct of Wall and to a lesser extent, Beal?

Since the break, he's down to 34% on three pointers. He's had an uninspiring postseason thus far... 8.5/4.8/1.0... Still seems like a guy to pursue as a 3-and-D guy. But at what cost? He's looking at a $100M deal.

Covinginton has a team option for less than 1.6 million for next season. There is no way they don't do that it's a bargain. If you want him you gotta trade for him.

Green turns 27 in June. You aren't paying him for upside you are paying for what you get right now which is a somewhat known commodity of what he can bring on the floor. You have to decide what number you are willing to go up to to get him. It's hard to say some of this will be more clear after we know what happens with the draft.

Tucker, Thabo, Dudley....liking that list of options.

Dudley was one of my top targets last year and I thought the dollar amount was fine. So we need to sign this year's version of Dudley in free agency. James Johnson, Sefolosha and Tucker are probably the closest matches off the top of my head.

I would be fine with johnson or tucker but both probably going to make in the 14-20 mil dollar range. What is fine with me. Thabo contact is probably going to be about 10 mil. So my question is the difference between rush and Thabo that great to pay an extra 5 mil for? (Legit question not trying to say he is or isn't)

Thabo has been a key guy for perennial playoff teams. There are some pretty loud rumblings about an injury (as pundits wonder why he isn't playing right now)...

Thank you for that. Haven't watched much hawks basketball this year. That is why I asked

Here's a nice scenario. The Wolves end up with a top 3 pick in the lottery. After a first round exit, the Clippers decide to reset and swap D'Andre Jordan to the Wolves for our first round pick. We then sign JJ Redick as a FA. Not beyond the realm of possibility. We'd have a Wolves team to get really excited about heading into next season.

We would have to make some deals to have the cap space to pull that off unless JJ takes a serious discount to come here.

JJ Redick has been woefully underpaid. He's making less than $8M per year. And this will be his ONE big NBA deal as he. And possibly his last one. He's also been pretty clear on his podcast that he does indeed care about money and considers himself a financially sound businessman.

I wouldn't be surprised if he signed for fairly close to $20M for at least 3 years.

I was assuming around $15 million for JJ. That plus the $22 million for Jordan would probably fit under the cap assuming we get Pek off the books. Of course, we'd probably be into the luxury tax the following season after signing Wiggins and LaVine. I wouldn't give Redick $20 million and I don't think anyone else will.

it's not gonna happen because the Clippers remember what it's like to be us. They're never gonna be contenders at this point, but I don't see them detonating their team right now for fear of becoming what they used to be.
