Like it offensively. They'd get destroyed on defense and probably on the boards too.

Folks have mentioned Wiggins before in hypothetical small-ball 4 lineups. It just doesn't work. You need someone stronger than him.

sign reddick and draft Markkanen and get some modern NBA spacing

So I think the field is realistically limited to unrestricted FAs. I don't see any realistic chance of landing a Millsap or Iggy, etc. because those guys will likely sign with their current teams or contender. Millsap will likely command a max deal and I don't think that fits the Wolves long-term budget knowing that the Wolves will be giving max deals to Wiggins and KAT in addition to the significant deal they gave to Gorgui and the significant deal they'll likely give Zach.

So needle movers like Millsap aren't realistic in my view. I consider Redick the best FA we can add who is realistically available to us. He's not in the same needle-moving category as Millsap, but he'd still move the needle. While he won't come cheap, he's not a max contract guy like Millsap. I'm not sure what Ibaka would cost, but again, I'm concerned about his declining performance. There's something wrong there.

I think our shooting isnt nearly as bad as our defense. As a team we shot three pointers at 34.9% (which is a little below average, but not terrible) and since we are a young team that average could improve significantly. We just take the fewest three point shots so Thibs need to figure out how to work more outside shooting into the offense. Zach, Wiggins and KAT all shoot better than 35% and are improving. Belly and Tyus can shoot from outside I'm not sure if we'll resign Casspi or Rush, but both are decent perimeter shooters. Ricky's shot is on the upswing and if you subtract all those last second desperation hoists he took as time was expiring he's probably near 35% on 3s. Dieng is showing more range and shot 38% beyond the arc.

I think we can be opportunistic in addressing both the needs for defense and scoring and there are a lot of good options available in free agency. Millsap, Ibaka and Otto Porter are all guys that would improve shooting and defense but I don't know if any of them are realistic targets. Thabo Sefolosha, James Johnson, PJ Tucker and Patterson can all shoot 3s and improve our defense and I like all of them. I hope we get at least one free agent who is an elite defender. Redick would be a good option if the cost is reasonable but there are plenty of other shooting options. Depending on how much we have to spend on a good shooter the options from most expensive to cheapest seem to be Gallinari, Redick, Tyreke Evans, Korver, Luke Babbitt, CJ Miles, Jerebko, Morrow, Nick Young and Dante Cunningham. I'd also think that if we wanted to resign Casspi or Rush, they could be had cheaply.

To add to your shooting point Lavine played 47 games. If he had played another let's say 30 games the 3 point percentage would have likely been a little higher and more attempts.

Did you forget about our defense? Neither Redick or Markkanen help us there. Jonathan Isaac or Jayson Tatum are the kind of two way players we need to draft and we need a 3 and D guy like Sefolosha, James Johnson, Tucker or Patterson. I do like Redick, but if he's looking for more than $12 million a year, I'd pass and try to get Morrow, Jerebko or Babbitt on a much cheaper deal.

You realize the johnson, tucker and Patterson all are going to make in the 14-20 mil range right?

Any interest in trading the 6th pick to Denver for Kenneth Faried? Wouldn't help with floor spacing, but he's a tough, relentless rebounder.

What about the 6th pick to Boston for Jae Crowder? Literally the perfect 3 and D player to have mixed in with LaVine and Wiggins. Boston then flips both first rounders and Avery Bradley for Jimmy Butler/Paul George.

6th pick for Tobias Harris? Provides floor spacing. Detroit may want to shuffle the roster a bit.

Swing a trade for John Henson? Would provide rim protection. On a good contract. Don't think it would take much with the emergence of Thon Maker.

Just spitballin' ideas. Any of these interest anyone?

you consistently come up with the craziest cap numbers for players I"ve seen from anyone on this board lol, I think you're going to have a heart attack from the cap number for who we sign no matter who it is

Straight up no. I don't like the trades but for example I would be more interested in a Farhied and the #13 pick for the 6th pick but I do after the top 8 there is a good drop off

Yep all the "middle tier guys" like Patterson, Gay, Gibson, reddick, JaMychal green, tucker are all going to get in the 14 to 20 mil range and probably closer to 20.

And the other cheaper names like Sefolosha, marrow, babbitt, Jerebko aren't we just switching out names instead of rush, hill, Aldrich

I'd say Sefelosga is a tier above those other guys. He has started a lot of games for playoff teams and is a legit defender and can hit some shots.

Also Redick right now probably is a better defensive player than most of the players on the Wolves so he would absolutely help defensively but he won't be here to help.

I was listening to that realgm draft podcast Duke posted and they were really high on Jayson Tatum I need to go back and look more into him.

Bloopy, this isn't last year so I don't expect free agency to be quite so crazy. I wish other people would put out numbers, because how the heck do you know if we should sign a guy when you don't have a salary to analyze? Most of the numbers are what I think is sensible to pay, not what I think will happen. I don't want to overpay for a bunch of average guys or older players, but I'd definitely like to see us pay max type money if we have the opportunity to land a Millsap or Otto Porter type guy. If you read my posts, you'll see that I am thinking we have to be strategic and opportunistic. There will be bargains after the overpays are out of the way. I don't want to fall in trap of overpaying for Crabbe or Chandler Parsons or Noah. We can strike out in free agency and build organically which I'm ok with.
