Really good point Abe, maybe we can't have it both ways. Wiggins seems to be better with the ball in his hands more, some argue Ricky needs it too. Who's game should we cater to more? Seems Wiggins is on the verge of taking the next step while Ricky would only be a slightly better version of his current self. All the games won this year have had Wiggins on the floor, Ricky apart of 2.
Starters have to find a way to make a difference when on floor, if Ricky is that limited as player that he can't make a difference in other ways than controlling the ball for a good portion of the shot clock than keep him needs more evaluation. What other team has such a limited player and says hey we need the ball in his hands more oft

I think Wall would garner a lot.

Something like Rubio + LaVine.

On the surface... most would probably gasp. But that would give the Wolves a LEGIT Big 3 for an extended run. The question is whether we think LaVine can reach that level...

Good points Abe and PC.

It will be interesting to see how much wiggins can grow as a ball handler passer etc. The strides he has made so far are pretty good so Inam at least intruiged espcially with his jumper looking really good.

I could see John Wall being available this off-season considering the mediocrity of their team and the reported rift with teammate Bradley Beal, and I'd give up anyone not named Towns, Wiggins, or LaVine to make it happen. That means Dieng, Rubio, Dunn, Muhammad (and his Bird rights), and multiple first-rounders would be in play for me.

I think a deal like this would require three teams or two separate trades to make it work, though. Washington would have little reason to want Dunn AND Rubio, IMO. So, in my mind, we'd have to move Rubio for different assets and then package them with Dunn and possibly Dieng.

I actually don't mind that trade and was thinking about the same. I know a lot are high on Lavine but I still question his decision making.

Re: the Rubio discussion: I side with those who think Thibs' misusing him is hurting the team. Rubio being the primary ball handler and Wig developing into a star are not mutually exclusive concepts...in fact, I think they fit together well. Ricky is never going to be a good scorer or shooter, but we are all aware of his astonishing peripheral numbers when given the green light to be Ricky. This team has enough scorers and shooters...Thibs needs to let Ricky be everything else.

But if he's going to continue to de-emphasize Ricky, then yes...he needs to be moved. I'm intrigued by the John Wall talk, but also know it would take an enormous price to get him. He has taken a big leap forward this year (he's now a great 3-point shooter too!) and his only weakness is a tendency to turn the ball over a little too much. I still would love to have him, but it's not going to happen without including a potential star in return because Wall is already a star...and I think the most likely candidate is Zach. Washington might bite at Rubio plus Zach, and I would do it. KAT, Wig and Wall would be a Big 3 in the same zip code as Cleveland's and Golden State's Big 3...maybe not this year, but within a couple years...and better than anyone else's trio. We would be in any championship discussion with that trio as our core.

So who's got the ball? Wall or Wiggins?

Both...doesn't matter. Wall is best running the show, but he can also be effective playing off the ball, and Wig is much improved this year as a ball handler. Wall/Wig/Belly/Dieng/KAT would be a very strong starting lineup.

I get your point after the earlier discussion in this thread. And, Thibs may very well prefer not to have a guy like Rubio or Wall entirely in favor of a Wiggins-centric offense ala Wade or Kobe or James (granted, those are all HUGE reaches at this point).

But...

Maybe Thibs thinks Wall is worth having the ball in his hands more than Rubio because he is more of an all-around threat. And that would give the Wolves two guys they could give it to and say "just go!"
