The Timberwolves are purchasing the Iowa Energy for its D-League affiliate

I see more trips to visit family in the Des Moines area...
But seriously I am thrilled that we finally have a squad. Its a bonus for me that its around 3 hours from my house and I can see family. This brings the number of NBA teams with affiliates up to 23 since Memphis is doing their own team closer to home which makes this move for the Wolves possible. I wonder if at some point the Wolves end up starting their own D-league team closer, but this makes too much sense to just have one pretty close and something that already exists. FINALLY!!!!! AAAAAAHHHH so excited. I'm such a nerd.

I wonder if they would ever have Ryan coach it.

Excellent news. Keeping a pipeline of guys in our own system will be an important part of filling in gaps on our roster in the future.

Idk. It probably depends on both Ryan and the organizations goals for him. The other thing that is worth noting about this move is you can also have more guys to develop as coaches as well.

This is clearly a hot topic. It's finally good to have some real news for once.
I wonder if because they actually will have their own D-league team if we will finally see this franchise add some 2nd round flyers and real undrafted FA talent. Before if they didn't make your roster it was not really all that beneficial to have more young guys around but with a place to send them where you can develop them. It makes more sense to bring in more fringe guys espcially ones that might not be ready now and therefore might not get a contract from another NBA to be on a roster but have a chance to work their way into the conversation.
