Kris Dunn is gonna be...
Re: Kris Dunn is gonna be...
Britt Robson mentioning a couple times Dunn being able to play as a SF in super small lineup and when switched onto players made me think about what might seem an odd comparison. Andrei Kirilenko. He had issues staying healthy and he was never a great scorer but the guy was incredibly versatile could do a little over everything and was a terrific defensive player. He wasn't a super star or put up numbers like Shaun Marion but he was a heck of a player espcially as a complimentary one. He was always a threat to take the ball away from anyone come out of nowhere for steals or blocks and when he was healthy he had a certain edge to him. If Dunn could be that type of player even if he isn't particularly advanced offensive player as a shooter (AK was a pretty good passer for his position) he could still be a high impact player. The league is different now Dunn needs to be able to shoot the 3 better than AK did in his career but I'm more interested in seeing if he can have some other impact you would get from a guy like Shaun Livingston but obviously hopefully more dynamic offensively.

I was wondering if it would be crazy for him to guard SF's. He seems tough enough and he is longer than Trenton Hassell was so it is possible.

Tony Allen is the guy that has been compared to in that regard and they are pretty similar lengthwise. So yeah it's possible. I bet Bruce Bowen wasn't more than an inch taller than either guy and his wingspan may have been shorter and he didn't weigh a ton either. Those guys are a bit of an exception to the rule but some guys that seem lengthy aren't really that impressive just looking at the measurements.

I'm less excited for tonights game because Tyus won't play and Dunn will play only 15-18 minutes, and oh yea I have to watch Rubio!

Heh, I know it pains Duke to watch Rubio play well. He's actually been playing solid basketball for a few weeks now. The good thing is that it increases his value both to us AND other teams. It's all good.
That being said, you watch a game like this where Rubio played fairly well and Dunn looked like a train wreck.....man, I just don't know if you move Rubio for just an expiring contract or pick. We're in a damn playoff race here!
Re: Kris Dunn is gonna be...
Kris Dunn is going to be a work in progress. To me his shot is everything. If he can really do what Rubio can't in the offseason he has a great career in front of him. If not he can still be a disruptive bench player.

I get that, but do you want a "work in progress" as our starting PG when we are still in the playoff hunt? I love Dunn, think he has a good future. But man, games like this.....just ugh. May be when he starts there is enough other competence out there on the floor it sort of works out. Then Jones can calmly run the second unit. I don't know.....
