I'm convinced that trading Ricky before the deadline would be a bad idea because it would make us significantly worse at the PG position and therefore even worse as a team down the stretch of the season. We simply can't afford to end the season on a bad note with Andrew and Zach due for extensions next Fall.

I'm not opposed to trading Ricky for the right return, but it should wait until next summer so we don't jeopardize our ability to finish strong as a team this season. Moreover, I think Ricky could have more value to us as part of a package, perhaps as part of a draft-day trade for our upcoming lottery pick.

If we do trade Ricky, I'd be all in on dealing him for Faried as Cam has suggested. I still like Koufus, but he's not enough return for Rubio in my opinion. I wouldn't do the Monroe deal either. I don't want another soft player on this team. Faried is the opposite -- a high energy, tough PF who could really help this team up front.

To answer the original question, way too early to forecast Dunn as a player right now, but I'll make one comment: he seems like a player that is capable of doing the little things to help you win--the hustle plays--put back rebounds, steals, laying out on the floor, etc. He just seems like a baller, but simply hasn't figured out the point guard positon yet on offense. I think Thibs is doing the right thing in playing him, even though there is a strong case to give Jones those minutes. And he did just have a 3 game stretch there where he looked good.

Simply put I think he has a much higher ceiling than Rubio and slightly lower floor than the version of Rubio we have seen this year overall. He has the defense (still needs to get smarter tho), and you can see the finishing ability is there. That's a good start.

The downside is his age. Physically he is not going to make a big leap, but that would explain why he is already tough on the defensive end (see Zach Lavine, just now starting to find his man body).

What has the PG position done to date to help us win these games that we are all of a sudden going to start winning because we keep somebody we already have? Losing Ricky isn't going to be throwing in the towel on the season. Dunn isn't there yet, but Tyus has played well to date and they both will be much more likely to improve by the end of the year for the home stretch if they get the time now. If our winning is on the big 3, then having Ricky or not shouldn't matter as much as you make it out to be. We'll be worse in the short term, but maybe Dunn turns a corner at some point or maybe Tyus continues his solid play and stabilizes the position while Dunn develops. Trading Ricky just isn't as big of a deal as you make it out to be because we aren't doing that great with him anyway. And no we aren't saying dump him to dump him, but if you can get a solid player back you do it.

And few very untimely turnovers in clutch moments being too cute. It's not his outside shoot as much as never figuring out how to use his body and finish at the rim. It's just such a necessary skill for a high level basketball player.
