Obviously Thibs and Co. see something in this guy that indicates to them that he's got some raw tools that can be curated in the coming years. I have zero opinion on the guy and I doubt we'll learn much from him his rookie year either. It could be a while....

Jim Pete says he plays hard and Jim has made a big deal out of that for years so that's probably legit and that is something with his physical tools and like I keep saying he actually has some basic offensive skills. He could be stashed in the D-league no doubt. I think that makes a ton of sense because he probably didn't play against top competition except his time at Creighton.

If the Wolves don't get a 2nd rounder they could be a top spot for any undrafted or g-league type FA because they will have those split contract options wide open. Some other teams won't have those spots wide open with a really full roster.

Lots of interesting bigs were available but I was wondering why Ike wasn't picked yet but he has a degenerative knee issue and he is the youngest player in the draft.

Wow Frank Mason went 34 to the Kings. I love that guy I never would have thought some one would take him that high. The new guy with the Kings said he likes some of those highly productive college players and he got 2 of them in Jackson and Mason. It's possible they will have no PGs so now they have 2 rookies.

I would have taken Giles as a project over who we ended up with. It's rare to get a top 5 talent at that spot in the draft. Bring him along slowly to unleash in a couple years. Interesting to hear a comp for him was Chris Webber and Vlade picks him up.

Actually Scott Perry is the guy calling the shots now. Maybe it should be no surprise that IMO Kings had a nice night with an actual experience basketball executive running things. Things fell well for them in a few ways though which helps.
