DEAL
Is it for 3 or 4 years?
I'm guessing it would be a 3 year with a player option 4th
Man JJ for that money even for 4 years is tempting. It may mean spending all the cap space but it would also put us as even more of a contender plus it would have some opportunity because we only have so many roster spots filled.

No Deal for me. That's more than Dieng for an aging bench player who's going to become a worse Korver in the next few years. JJ's 33 going on 34. How does that not just become Dunleavy in the next year or 2 on a 3-4 year deal? Way too much money for someone who's gonna be sitting on the bench to close games.

Are we allowed to trade the pick we got for Ricky? Could we trade that pick and Aldrich away to get even more cap space? Being honest I know how MLB free agency works but don't understand everything when it comes to the NBA

We could trade it but I think that's too high of a price to unload Aldrich for just 1 year. I value those picks. I suppose it depends on who you can get with that money.

Not that it would change your mind but JJ turned 33 a couple days ago.

If he could run the point I'd be all on board. But he can't. He's a 33 year old undersized, short armed 2. I just don't see how anything other than his shooting ages well in this league and the debate is if that is worth 16 million dollars. That's just not. What kind of shooting specialists are getting 16 million per year this late in their careers? That would be a massive overpay for a guy who could be ineffective any day now outside of shooting.

Well said, Kahns. I agree with you completely on this. I wonder if Joe Ingles is in play for us. If so, he's the guy we should be targeting now since we passed on Tony Snell. A less costly alternative would be Darren Collison.

I see JJ as a pretty good starter level player. I think he is actually a pretty solid defender much better than Korver ever was. The Wolves need shooting and he is the best shooter you can get. Now the question I would have the way I value him is if it is the best use of our resources. It depends on what it costs to get a different player. If it only costs a couple million per to get JJ I would rather do that than get some role player than to some extent gets overrated. We will see.

Monster -- I think you've framed the analysis well. It does depend on the cost of other FA i options. My problem would be giving him 3-4 years. I'd hate to be stuck with a 36-year old Redick at $16 million per year.

We should consider the possible negatives of both players. What if Snell isn't the player he was with the Bucks and he is basically just a decent bench player? I'd take the chance but just sayin.
