I guess I'm the real enthusiast here going with 17-8. Several of my picks are coin flips and a couple are me stepping out there, but I'll stand by my post and accept the consequences. Ha.

1/1: at Pacers (W; superior team beats inferior opponent. Indiana also without Victor Oladipo.)

1/2: vs Lakers (W; superior team beats inferior opponent. Los Angeles also without Lonzo Ball.)

1/4: at Nets (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

1/6: at Celtics (W; taking a leap of faith here, but I see our guys getting up for this one on ESPN. Statement type game.)

1/7: vs Pelicans (L; disappointing loss after a well-fought win on national TV just the night prior.)

1/9: vs Cavs (L; LeBron James is LeBron James.)

1/11: vs Thunder (W; I think we match up well with OKC and our 2-1 record against them so far shows that.)

1/13: vs Knicks (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

1/15: vs Blazers (W; finish off the homestand with a commendable victory.)

1/17: at Magic (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

1/19: at Rockets (L; close game, but Harden just barely pulls one out against Butler.)

1/21: vs Raptors (W; good team on our home floor; they'll be on the second night of a back-to-back after playing the Spurs.)

1/23: at Clippers (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

1/25: at Blazers (L; Portland gets one on their home floor. Lillard and McCollum go nuts.)

1/26: at Warriors (L; Second night of a back-to-back, on the road, against Golden State? Scheduled loss. We have no chance.)

1/28: vs Nets (W; superior team beats inferior opponent. Back on the right path.)

1/30: at Hawks (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

1/31: at Raptors (L; Toronto catches us on the second night of a back to back and wins one on their home court.)

2/2: vs Bucks (W; Minnesota wins a close one on their home court.)

2/4: vs Pelicans (W; Minnesota makes up for the loss to New Orleans earlier in the season.)

2/8: at Cavs (L; LeBron James is still LeBron James.)

2/10: at Bulls (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

2/12: vs Kings (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

2/14: vs Rockets (L; Minnesota can't shoot with Houston. Not as deep either.)

2/16: vs Lakers (W; superior team beats inferior opponent.)

Under. Someone other than Butler has to step up. As for the bench, someone unexpected has to contribute their share.

I hope Cam is right. A 17-8 stretch over the next 25 games would set the Wolves up beautifully for a top 4, possibly top 3 finish. Our schedule after the all-star break gets tougher, so this next stretch is critical. I see the first two games of this 25-game stretch - Indiana and Lakers - as must-win games for the Wolves. I'll be disappointed even if we win the 14 games I've projected. As I see it, losing just one of these games puts on track for a likely 13-12 finish before the all-star break. That would be hugely disappointing for a team with aspirations to finish in the top 5. Losing both games would be a disaster.

Optimism and delusion are two different things Cam! :-d

Hopefully they finish closer to your projection than mine!

Cam actually applied some analysis and logic, so it's good to see he comes up fairly bullish. Still....I don't see it. It's hard for me to get my head around this team actually being 4th seed caliber. That's why my only wish is that they make the playoffs, by hook or crook. So if we just play .500-ish ball from here on out - and even if a little worse - we should be good to go.

If Butler and KAT remain healthy the entire season (other than missing a few games), then a 7th or 8th seed would be a failure in my view given the talent we have. In that case, I'd rather see us finish 9th or 10th. Finishing 9th or 10th with a healthy Butler and KAT seems would allow us to keep our own 1st round draft pick and would likely result in the firing of Thibs. I'd much prefer finishing in the 3-6 range, which is what should happen with a healthy Butler and KAT all season given our talent. But I'll take a 9th place finish over an 8th place any day under those circumstances.

Wow the hate for Thibs runs deep. After 13 years any playoff seed is better than not!

Yeah I agree that's a crazy viewpoint to want to miss the playoffs instead of get a 7 or 8 seed. It's been almost 15 years and you want to miss the big dance again because you're mad we hired Thibs? Give me a break lol

Don't forget though we'd get the 12th pick in the draft.
