Re: Wiggins for Boogie
Maybe Cousins?
His contract is up after next season. And he has a poor history with coaches... And Thibodeau seems to be a very particular type of coach...
That deal is off the table without knowing whether the Wolves are giving up a guy who's still among the league's most promising young scorers for one year of D. Cousins.

I don't like Boogie here.
But let me know what you think about this proposed trade I saw recently:
Wiggins for Whiteside & Winslow.
We get a chance to fix our defense. Miami gets a potential long term 1st option on offense.

I don't like pushing Towns to the 4. He's going to do the most damage pulling 5's out to the perimeter and he can have a bigger defensive impact at the 5 at the rim than chasing 4's around the perimeter. We're focusing a little too much on quick fixes for current problems. Towns is 20. He needs to bulk up and be a 5. Wiggins is 21. He needs to bulk up and be a 3. We should not be trying to push them to positions allowing them to play soft or they will keep playing soft. The only way I'm trading Wiggins is if I get a star PG back. I'm tired of having PG's who need the ball to be effective, but can't put the ball in the basket.

No offense to KAT but he doesn't have a physical profile to be a defensive monster like Whiteside. And Wiggins is in his 3rd year and hasn't bulked up one bit. People were saying that Brewer needed to bulk up. Who did that work out?

I was a strong advocate for taking Cousins when we could have drafted him. But I am not in favor of trading one of our young core players for him. I'd take Jimmy Butler 100 times out of 100 before I'd consider Boogie.

Towns is a 7 footer with long arms and came out of college with better defensive stats than AD. Towns has the profile to be a defensive monster. Also if you can't see the difference between Wiggins now and 2 years ago, I can't help you. He actually looks like he has shoulders now which he didn't before. It's not healthy to put on 20-30 lbs in one off-season. Wiggins is definitely more cut than he was as a rookie. They're 20-21 and you're comparing Towns to a 27 year old Whiteside who also came into the league on the skinny side. It's completely normal that they aren't physically where they should be yet. This is not what they are going to look like when they are 25-26-27.

KAT isn't even close to Whiteside and never will be when it comes to rim protection if you can't see it I can't help (see I can do it too). And KAT had better defensive stats than AD in college???!!! LOL. Which ones are those?. I'm dying to know. Please.
So Wiggins got 2 lbs added to his shoulders? What a toothpick beast he is ! Wiggins is underweight any way you slice it. There is a reason people want him to play SG. He's a naturally skinny guy and not everybody can turn into a meathead. I'm afraid you'll have to wait till he's in his 30s before any significant gain.

Just checked. Towns' stats aren't better, but they are right on AD's heels.
Towns
10.8 Defensive Box Score +/-
11.5 block %
2.9 defensive win shares
78.1 defensive rating
22.3 defensive rebounding %
AD
108 DBOM
13.7 Block %
4.2 DWS
80.3 defensive rating
23.8 dreb%
Back to the main argument
Towns 7' 244
Whiteside 7' 265 with a 6 year age advantage.
Saying what a 20 year old can or cannot be physically is dumb when so many people put on weight. That 265 lb monster was 227 coming out of college, but sure, our guy definitely has no chance at putting on weight.

Re: Wiggins for Boogie
Didn't Davis' NCAA title run (and final game) have a lot to do with the hype though?
On the biggest stage, he played even better defensively. He won MOP of the Final Four while scoring only a handful of points in the championship game.
