I love competition, and since the current edition of the Wolves is not providing any, I need something else to follow. So, may I introduce you to the Coach's Competition Thread. The CCT will periodically document the comparative records of three of the worst initial coach's seasons in the modern Wolves' area...perhaps if Thibs can rally and beat both Kurt and Sam, it will make me feel a little better about the fact that we are stuck with him for at least three years. Current standings as of 12/10/16:
Sam Mitchell (2014-5) 9-14
Tom Thibodeau 6-17
Kurt Rambis (2009-10) 3-20
Although he is lagging behind Sam Mitchell, I feel very good right now about his 3-game cushion over Rambis. But I notice that both Sam and Kurt have a couple wins coming up this week and Kurt has 4 wins coming up before the end of the year, so Thibs needs to keep his focus if he wants to maintain his second place status.
Let the games begin, and Go Thibs!!!!!!!!

I like this. Gotta have a good sense of humor with this team. This season is beyond a cruel joke. Can we have a parade for another lottery season? Ala the Browns maybe having an 0-16 parade?

Well, the good news is we are going to have a fairly high lottery pick in what I believe is considered a very strong draft. If you think about some of the trades thrown around for Kris Dunn, we may see some similar opportunities involving this year's pick. Assuming Thibs is 100% committed to building around our big three (as opposed to moving one of them), trading out our lottery pick for an established vet may be the right thing to do this time around.

People need to stop dumping on Rambis. His roster was all sorts of effed up.

That was my intent, Jerry. While the main thing I like about this board is the excellent basketball insight and disparate views, we also have some clever people on this board...and with this franchise, sometimes humor is the only thing that can make the hurt go away. It's an escapist, coping mechanism. There's a lot of pent-up enthusiasm inside the loyal fans on this board waiting to joyfully emerge if this team ever plays up to expectations. But when they fail once again, and this year under thibs in an underachieving fashion even this hapless franchise has never seen, I need to turn to humor to medicate.

I don't disagree, BW...Rambis' roster was a JV team compared to what Thibs has to work with. That's one of the points of this thread...Thibs should be winning twice as many games as Rambis did, but he's not.
I will say though that Rambis also deserves scorn. He spoke several times at my Dunkers' breakfast meetings, and I found him to be arrogant and defensive...never took any responsibility for the team's failure. While I have pleasantly found Thibs to not exhibit the same kind of defensiveness in his post-game remarks, I also have yet to hear him take one iota of blame for the ineptitude on the court. That bugs me.
