Patton called up!
Patton called up!
I don't know about you guys but I sure hope he gets 10-15 minutes a game. But the way our offense works he won't get any touches

He is not going to play. He is just here for practice because G League is on a break. Brown and Jefferson also are getting called up for the same reason.
Thibs also said Patton has not been cleared to play in an NBA game and is still on a minutes restriction in the G League
Re: Patton called up!
Damnit. Thanks for the clarification

Re: Patton called up!
He has a very soft touch. I wouldn't quite say he's KAT, but boy, he certainly shows off a pretty smooth jumper and nice touch around the hoop. The problem is the biggest need for this team (besides 3-point shooting) is interior toughness and defense.

Yes, that's the problem with Patton. And it would also be nice to have another rebounder behind KAT. I'm not a fan of bigs who don't rebound. But I like Patton's shooting touch and his passing.

I think we all agree that Patton will not make any impact on the team this year and I think most of us like how the wolves have used him this year in the G league especially coming of his foot injury.
I think the big thing is can he play next to Kat in 2 years when Taj comes off the books, I agree that one of Patton biggest weaknesses is his rebounding for a big but to compare Taj averages 7.9 rbs per 36 minutes and Patton averages 9 per 36 minutes, and I understand that, that is against G league competition, but it is a huge advantage that the Wolves have a player in Towns who is an elite rebounder for his position and might make up for Patton lack of natural rebounding ability.
I also love his shooting touch and passing and when I watched a couple games back I was super impressed with his passing and hopefully in 2 years we will have 2 mobile bigs that can shoot, and pass with the best of them in the league at there positions and in theory it could be deadly.
Like Q has mentioned and I reported in the game I watched we both have said he only moved when he had to move and his motor might not be all there, that was shocking when I watched because his college report was he was a huge motor guy who loved to rim run. Today Thibs sort of eased that fear for me, because he said Patton is not even cleared to play in a NBA game yet medically and still has to be on a minutes limit in the G League. So hopefully with better health/getting into shape, hopefully that part of his game returns.
Long ways to go but I am very happy with the uptick in Patton play lately and in theory the wolves could have 2 very good big men that could play together. Also at least in the game I watched Patton rotated correctly defensively very well, but he seemed like he walked into where he needed to be and in the NBA he will probably be a half step late if he does that but he is still learning.

Good observations, Geek.

Re: Patton called up!
Should be interesting.....I think it will be good for his long-term development to get some reps this year in the NBA. However, I wish it didn't have to happen due to an injury to a key guy in the home stretch of games!
