Foot contusion, same foot as the surgery. They feared worse when he left the game. Seems like a week or 2 injury based on a Google search
Well, that sucks. He was starting to string some nice games together and they were gradually ramping up his minutes. Ugh!
He is playing tonight for the Iowa Wolves. First two possessions a 3 and a block. So he is fine
Good to know! I checked the final box score of that game and he picked up where he left off:
25 minutes
19 points on 9-15 shooting, including 1-3 from 3
6 rebounds
2 assists
2 steals
3 blocks
+10
Love it! I haven't watched him in action for a while, but on paper it looks like his big man size combined with small man skills are starting to show on a very consistent basis.
The other good thing is that among the Iowa Wolves starters, Patton leads them in net rating, at +2.6, so he isn't just putting up empty stats.
Still....this is just the G-League, but at least he seems to be making steady improvement and is now impacting games in a pretty big way. That's a good first step.

It's good he is starting to dominate in G league like you said great first step. He is probably just getting into basketball shape. If you think about it he gets drafted and then hurts his foot. So no offseason workouts, no summer league, stats practicing when everyone is almost 2 months into the season, also a rookie. I mean look at belly it took him a couple of weeks after hurting his foot to get back in form
Anybody watching his full games? Is he able to control the paint defensively? He's got a real size and length advantage and we'll really need him to be a good defensive player, so I'm really curious how he does keeping other teams out of the paint. He doesn't get many rebounds, and it seems like he doesn't always play in the paint. It would be nice if he could guard stretch 4s, but I really want a rim protector and rebounder type first of all.

I haven't seen him for a full game. His limited college stats cast some doubt on him ever becoming either a rim protector or big-time rebounder. But I could see him guarding stretch 4s based on my limited viewing. He seems to move well laterally with active hands -- probably a legacy of his days as a guard before his growth spurt. And he could still become a terrific rebounder or rim protector. We just don't have enough data yet to speculate very reliably. So I too would love to hear from folks who've seen him play a lot.

I watched a lot of the game today.
Patton stat line
11 Pts
5-9 shooting
1-3 from 3
4 Rebs

His stat line was not all-world but I was super impressed with his passing, this is the first time I watched more than just highlights, he made some great passes that lead to buckets, missed shots, or lead to a foul . I was super impressed even though the assists numbers were low. He seemed comfortable with his face up game. Some negatives were his hands on rebounds were not the greatest and it seemed like he was only active when he had to be, but when he cut he cut super hard and he was in the right spots defensively but I am a little worried that the speed he rotated in todays game he would be a step slow in the NBA instead of a good contest in the G league.

Thanks for the report Kek. Just as importantly, they won the game! Iowa is in first place in their division and Patton has played a definite role in their surge from being below .500.
I haven't watched him in a while, but what I bolded above has been my big beef with him. He doesn't really have a consistent motor and attack mentality. We get on KAT sometimes (less so recently) for some of his defensive lapses, but overall, motor is not an issue. I think it might be with Patton. But man, he's got some real skills. Love the fact he knocked down another 3 too.

Like he was mostly in the right spot defensively during the game and making the rotation, but he got there by mostly walking (couldn't think of a better word) there. Feels like he knows where to go but hopefully the lack of speed to the spot doesn't kill him in the NBA. Also when he does cut man he moves freaking hard. On the PnR I would say he might be the best roller on the T'wolves team but he was always the last one up the floor on offense by a pretty wide margin (what is so different from his college scouting report).
I just noticed that in the Iowa Wolves last game Patton had 1 rebound in 24 minutes. Yes, that's 1 rebound. In the G-League!! Truly pathetic! Rebounding is probably the best single measure of a player's competitive fire. That's true at any position (witness Westbrook or even Rubio) but especially for a big man. I've always been troubled by Patton's pedestrian 6 rebounds per game in college given his length relatively to other players at the college level. A 1 rebound game in over 20 minutes of play is totally unacceptable and troubling for any big man at any level, but it's especially troubling at the G-League level for someone with Patton's length.
