Another thing about Wiggins. Last night's game offered several examples of Andrew's passing ability. He's actually a very good passer but he gets so few assists we rarely talk about his potential in that area. His passes are generally the right ones, on target and crisp. There was one pass Wiggins made to Belly that I wish he hadn't made when Wiggins drove into the paint and then fired the ball out to Belly at the 3-point line. I'm convinced that Andrew could have scored at the rim on that play or at least drawn a shooting foul. But the pass to Belly was actually an excellent basketball play. Belly was all alone just behind the arc and Andrew's pass was right on the money, putting Belly in perfect shooting position. Belly just missed the shot.

Thanks for bringing up Wiggins passing Lip. Of all the Wolves players on this team I swear Wiggins is the most likely to feed Belly of anyone.

I think Wiggins is a willing passer, but I don't think he's a good passer by NBA wing standards, especially given all the touches he gets.

I agree with you. I think he is a good passer from the post and when he drives baseline. But I think he has to be one of the worst passers in the league when it comes to PNR situations. Making him a before average passer

Agreed he isn't a good playmaker unless he has really attacked and therefore made the defense do something. Considering that's what his strength is as a player (attacking) the fact that he can make those passes and is willing to do so is real positive. I think he has made some small strides viewing and making reads with the ball but not dribbling it making some passes to guy cutting or open at the basket. He has quite a ways to go to be average as a passer/playmaker overall and then making that a strength of his game. I think he has ability to make reads it's nore the lack of skill. I also think a piece of it is he can get downhill so fast sometimes he goes too quick. The Warriors game and the Clippers game have a few examples of him taking more time playing with a smoother speed.

A good passer to me is someone who throws a crisp, accurate pass precisely where the recipient needs the ball to get off a good shot. A good passer will also make the right pass -- that is, a pass that gets the team a good shot. I think Wiggins is a good passer by both measures, but that's based on a very limited sample size. As you noted, we've all seen Wiggins pass well in the post and on baseline drives. I'm not sure I've seen enough of him passing in pick & roll situations to evaluate him in that area, but I'd agree with you based on the little I've seen. Thibs rarely runs pick & rolls through him. The bottom line for me is that Wiggins is NOT a good playmaker even if though I consider him a good passers by the measures I described above. He generally doesn't do things to make his teammates better. The ray of hope I see is the accuracy of his passes from the post and on drives. It's something that I think gets overlooked and it gives him something else to build on.

Yeah, I dont think hes a good playmaker, but I do think hes a safe ad accurate passer. The one pass he does do well is the drive and kick. And I think thats why he and bjelly seem to have a good relationship on the floor. Bjelly will often spot up and wait for his pass. Butler, teague, etc.. arent really the spot up guys. wiggins isnt either, but thats the role he has in our offense. This year, especially recently, hes been better at making the quick decions and finding the open guy out of the post.

He needs to be better at facilitating out of the pnr, but I think his handles really arent there yet.
