We've been on a high for 12 hours now. NO. Let's get back to our woe-us-us underdog role.
I know we've done this before... but I get a chuckle at the "new age" of sports media. ESPN headlines right now:
- Want to dress like Russ? Every fit he wore this season.
- NBA coaching firings.
- Fultz getting a meaningless triple double in a game nobody tried in.
- Player wanting more playing time.
- Rumors, but no confirmation of a football FA signing
I scrolled through about 30 stories on the front page. Nothing Denver vs. MN related.
So what about on the NBA page?
About 20 stories down the page... AFTER a story about the Wizards signing Ty Lawson.
I get that reporting on games from 12 hours ago might not be good business in today's ADD era. I just found it amusing. And telling... considering there's a 700% better chance of that game being highlighted if it was aired on ESPN last night.
It is what it is. But is sorta funny.

Thanks for this post Abe I got a kick out of it.
For what it's worth the Wolves finally making the playoffs was sports news on the local classic rock station.

I can't believe Wiggins hit both free throws, I still can't even the next day. I would have bet almost everything that he would miss at least one. This is more shocking than the Seahawks not running the ball late in the Super Bowl.

Same, I put his odds at hitting both at zero. Maybe he is just saving himself for the playoffs? LOL

I don't think ESPN fully grasps just how bad 14 years straight of missing the playoffs is in professional sports. We should have been front page and first segment on ESPN, but of course the Yankees and Red Sox had a fight 2 weeks into the season so they dominate SportsCenter.

NY and Boston markets sell.
Minnesota... Denver... not so much.
Follow the money. They don't care about narratives and stories. Especially... when they can simply create their own -- and choose ones that are more financial viable for its business. Rinse. Repeat.
[Note: It's not just the sports media that does this.]

I was hoping he could at least make 1 so going 2-2 was obviously a welcome outcome. They mentioned on the broadcast Barton came over trying to mess with him in between FTs. I would have just left him alone. Lol

He seemed to visibly relax between the two shots. He was smiling and possibly jawing back after the first make. That was one key. Good for him to hit them both. Hopefully, he can get through the playoffs without free throws being a major issue... and work on mechanics/mindset to get back to a point where making free throws is part of what makes him a solid scorer.
