While I may have agreed with you before this season, having watched Gibson with my own eyes all year long, it's not even close. Gibson isn't a great defender, but he's a good one. And he is way more capable of switching onto guards and wings than Dieng, a really important skill in today's NBA. He also has one hell of a low post game - one of the most efficient in the NBA - which is crazy because he didn't have any of that early in his career. Gorgui gets the ball down low and ends up pump faking his way into a travel or getting tipped over by the slightest of contact.
Yeah, I used to be a really big fan of Gorgui. I absolutely loved the draft pick. And I do think he's had some nice moments defensively over the years, but he's been a disaster this season. And offensively you can't survive on mid-range jumpers anymore unless you are SUPER accurate.

Nice to see I am rubbing off on you Q!
You know what kind of system would make Taj even more valueable? One that basically switched everything. That what a lot of the other teams do. It wasn't that long ago that didn't seem to be something you could do and get away with it and now from what i understand good defensive teams do it a lot. Honestly I think the Wolves should do that a heck of a lot more. I've seen Teague get beat against some bigger players but I've also seen him put up a good fight or even win the possession or at least get a terrific contest you could live with. Is Towns the weak link in that system? Maybe but it would be interesting to see it tried and see what they could do. How many times have teams got easy baskets because someone didn't know if they were supposed to switch or not? Ok sure a lot of those involve Crawford but not all of them.
