Yeah I brought up that stat a few weeks back about Wiggins and you have seen it this year that he is bouncing all over the perimeter. I guess the real issue is that those contested shots on both levels of our D are still going in for some reason.

Re: Interesting statistics thread
Gorgui Dieng is going to be an anchor for this team and not in a positive way. He might be the single biggest reason this team can't make a sizable jump the next several seasons. He's producing at a well below average mark, but making almost above average starting caliber money. Those are called bad contracts in today's league. I have no doubts that management has shopped him since last November, but they haven't found anyone desperate enough to take him by himself. Teams are holding out for a first-round pick. It's worth looking into trying to rid this roster of him and gain a competent three-point shooting wing even if it means giving up a first-round pick to do so. With him, our financial flexibility is nonexistent and that's not even accounting for Andrew Wiggins' upcoming salary.

I guess that the only option is to swap him to another bad contract. I wouldn't hesitate to deal him to Washington for Mahinmi. I think their contracts are equally bad but at least Mahinmi's contract would end one year earlier and its money per year number decreases every year.

I got shredded by some for saying we needed to deal him before the year

He has clearly been less good for this team as a bench player than most expected. I think there is still the chance of dealing him to a team that has a different bad contract or 2 one of which basically is a sunk cost. The one hope I have is he comes back next year more prepared for being a bench guy and does better. It's possible but it's not a ton to hold onto. It's too bad he seems like a good dude and I really don't think he is worthless either.

Well...Wiggins and Towns were well up there in the rankings last year also and Dieng was pretty far up there as well. It SEEMS like a pointless stat based on how bad the Wolves defense has been overall the last 2 years. Also worth remembering both Wiggins and Towns play a lot of minutes and never miss games.

I think that's a very important stat. Was reading an article the other day saying how Joe Ingles shoots the most or near the most wide open 3's in the league. It's a product of the lack of ball movement we have. The ball is rarely moved from side to side. Last night the ball moved really well I thought. The spacing was noticeably different I thought. This is going to help Kat operate inside. I loved how Tibs sat Taj and went with Belly/Kat front court down the stretch.

Re: Interesting statistics thread
Final Net Ratings:
Butler - 113.3/105.1/+8.3
Jones - 111.8/105.7/+6.1
KAT - 113.6/107.7/+5.9
Gibson - 111.8/107.1/+4.7
Wiggins - 111.0/107.6/+3.4
Teague - 111.2/108.7/+2.5
Bjelica - 108.4/108.0/+.4
Crawford - 108.2/112.9/-4.7
Dieng - 105.4/111.0/-5.6
- As expected, our best player had the best net rating, but then in 2nd is....Tyus Jones!? It's been a theme all season.
- Let's dig in a bit more with Tyus.....He played a lot of minutes with Crawford and Dieng, yet he is 2nd in Net Rating. The reason is because for the 261 minutes he played with the other main four starters (instead of Teague), the team had a Net Rating of +23.4. The defense and offense were off the charts!
- More on Tyus....he is probably the perfect fit with our four main starters because he doesn't have to create a bunch of offense (which he isn't very good at), but can be counted on to keep the ball moving and get a ton of steals and deflections defensively. Kind of like Ricky!
- The Crawford numbers don't surprise me. Look at his age! He had a negative net rating with the Clippers the year before.
- Dieng is by far the biggest disappointment here. The guy just couldn't guard anything coming down hill at him and his mid-range game is useless in today's NBA.

Thanks for the update Q.
Tyus even with his limits has taken a very nice step forward this season.
It's only 9 games but I would be interested in the numbers Derrick Rose had compared to the full season numbers you provided.
