I think the main thing is that it is his first big extension. If it was his second and his performance had completely plateaued I think it would be difficult to move. There are always going to be teams who maxed out their resources on a run and are in limbo around the 8-12 seeds who would look seriously at a guy like Wiggins. Brooklyn, the Clippers, Charlotte, etc. Teams that know they are a few years away but haven't gone complete rebuild or have assets already sent away would absolutely look at Wiggins. Plus as I've said numerous times here, Toronto is going to rebuild/retool their roster in Two years. They will 100% think about Wiggins.

I think right now you compare his value to other legit 3rd options on teams. To me that makes me more reluctant trade him. Many other 3rd options may do a few things better on their teams, but still won't have the overall impact that Wiggins can have any given night. Despite his inconsistencies, he can sway a game in a more extreme way than many of the 3rd options out there.

What... in a good, or bad way?
We have the ability to ride him when he's hot. That's something valuable. Wiggins peak play surpasses that of almost all 3rd options in the league outside of Golden State. All of these players have fundamental flaws to parts of their game, and many aren't as young as Wiggins.

Not max money valuable though!
I'm not even sure he is one of the better third options. You don't look at any given night, you have to look at the average night.
I was pretty high on WIg early on, but I thought the max deal was a mistake. If a team needed a top scorer, I could see how he might have the value, but as a third option I would prefer a guy like otto porter.

If I were a GM, I wouldn't touch him even if I needed a top scorer. He simply isn't efficient enough for today's NBA game. But there may be some GMs (including Thibs) that believe he's worth waiting on. He has an elite spin move, euro step, and can get his shot off pretty easily. May be some day he actually starts making more of them (?). But it's just really hard to see when he's struggling this badly as a 4th year player, even if he is still pretty young age-wise.

Wouldn't touch him? Ok. Overpaid with performance so far makes sense but the rhetoric is a bit overblown I'd say. You may have given Robbie Hummel a max deal so I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Wouldn't touch him with that contract, correct. And I'm just speaking for myself if I were a GM. I really think I could find much better ways to spend that money, either on a different max player or perhaps a couple of players.
I think you are right that there might be a couple actual GMs out there willing to roll the dice, but I think that list gets smaller and smaller each passing month....
