Doesn't need the ball in his hand and can play the two guard next to Teague or Jones. Also give us a great defensive option at the point for situational match ups.
He's coming off season ending knee surgery - micro fracture and meniscul injury so his stock will be down. He also has a team option of 6mil on the last year of his contract, which no doubt the Clippers will take on.
A trade I've been pondering (although on the fence about) is:
Cole Aldrich (7 mil expiring, but believe he has a buy out option of 1.5 mil)
2018 1st round (via OKC)
For
Pat Beverley
Sam Thornwell
Future 2nd round pick
I like the thought, but I'd hate this trade. I think I'd much rather just roll Tyus Jones out there as he is already on his way to becoming an elite defender -- today's metrics say he's already there -- and he has a much bigger impact on the game offensively, in my opinion.
I'd take that same view that you have and just shift it towards someone that can play the wing, preferably both positions.
I like Beverly a lot but giving up a 1st round pick for someone that just had knee surgeries turns 30 in July and tends to miss around 20 per season before all that plus is only signed for one more years seems like a bad use of resources. Like Cam said use that 1st rounder to get a wing. If we were gonna do a deal like that we shoulda just done the deal for CJ Miles last offseason. I'm glad we didn't though. In addition Beverly's bargain contract won't look like a bargain this offseason. It will be more like what guys like that will get paid.
I assume part of this deal is you value Thornwell. I like him but I don't know if I like him enough to consider him much of an asset coming back. He is an older rookie that was passed up for minutes by all three 2-way players the Clippers brought onto their roster. We should be able to find a guy like that (heck we should be looking for the next Patrick Beverly) out of the G-League or in the 2nd round of the draft etc. Having said all that he has some decent stats so I'd like to have him but it's not a big positive for me in the deal. If you see him as more valuable than that I certainly wouldn't quibble with it.

Acquiring Beverley would make Jeff Teague somewhat expendable. Don't get me wrong, I like Teague and think he's done well adapting to his role with this team. But he is most effective as a high usage player which he can't and should not be here. Teague to the Hawks for Cam's boy Kent Bazemore could work (although the Hawks love for Dennis Schroder might deter them from acquiring another PG).
Imagine this lineup up. A nice balance of offense and defense as well as improved 3 pt shooting:

I like Beverley a lot, but I wouldn't want to depend on a guy coming off micro-fracture surgery. That's a big deal. And there's no way the Hawks would trade for Teague at $19 million per year for two more years. As you noted, they have Schroeder. I'll add that Hawks are in rebuild mode. I can't imagine the Hawks having any interest in Teague and his contract.
Atlanta would be a team to consider as a possible trade partner for Wiggins. Would the Hawks deal Bazemore and their own first round pick for Wiggins and our OKC pick? I'm assuming the Hawks end up with a top 4 pick. My guess is that the Hawks wouldn't do that deal. They probably would have done it a year ago, but Wiggins' regression this season has I think further depressed his market value. How about Wiggins for Bazemore and our own first round pick? I wouldn't do that deal if I were the Wolves PBO, but that's one I'm sure the Hawks would do in a heartbeat.
I would actually be all about that hypothetical trade, Lip, with Atlanta giving us their own first-round pick in this draft. They would have to be pretty high on Andrew Wiggins, however. And they would have to have a top-five pick or else there's no deal.
There are five prospects set to be in this year's draft that I think have legitimate star potential -- Marvin Bagley, Trae Young, DeAndre Ayton, Luka Doncic, and Michael Porter. Getting any one of those five AND Kent Bazemore for Andrew Wiggins and the Oklahoma City first-round pick would be a dream.

It was rumored that Noah was going to get bought out.
Yeah nobody is gonna take on that salary. The Dunc'd On guys said someone on Twitter suggested to them that contracts like Joakim's should be considered to have a No-ah trade clause. Lol
I would rather try to explore possibility to trade Dieng for Mahinmi and 2nd rounder. Both players have about same size contracts but Mahinmi's contract is one year shorter. This deal would make it easier to resign Taj when his contract is finished. It's same year when they need to pay for both Towns and Butler and if they cannot get rid of Dieng before that I think just signing those two will take team close to luxury tax level.
I also think that Mahinmi might be even more useful for Wolves team since he should be at least defensively OK. Washington might do the trade since Dieng is younger and they could hope that he would bounce back to last year's level of play.
I actually don't think LeBron James is going to leave Cleveland, BUT if he does, I'd imagine Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. would once again become available. Something to keep in mind.

I think James signing another 1-year deal in CLE is becoming more and more possible/probable at this point... isn't the 2019 free agent class supposed to be much bigger?

Agreed although I could see Nance being part of their rebuild. I think there are going to be players available both in FA and trade that won't cost much to acquire this offseason that could help the Wolves. Aldrich's mostly expiring deal could even help get a guy for a team that just wants to dump salary. There are going the worthwhile players that sign for the vet min.

I don't know if this facetious or not. Of course... you can always move an early 20s guy with potential. Although it's going to be really interesting just how that contract is viewed moving forward as the NBA over-corrects from the money giveaway two years ago.
There WILL be players who are better statistically than Wiggins making the MLE... or a fraction of it.
