Do we deal future picks to solidify lineup this season?
I am on the fence here. On one hand, draft picks have a lot of value come draft time. On the other, we are already competitive, and a couple moves could make us a lot stronger this year and next. We absolutely must get some wing depth to allow for Butler and Wiggins to get some needed rest throughout season.
A guy like Tyreke Evans would be ideal, but he is only under contract through end of season....so I probably wouldn't give up what they would want in return. But how about a guy like Jonathon Simmons from Orlando? Doesn't solve any of our 3 point problems, but certainly provides a very solid wing player to allow for Butler and Wiggins to get more rest. Any he is signed for peanuts for 2 seasons following this one. Is he worth moving Thunder pick? Teams value these mid-round picks, but I don't see a ton of value in them....so I lean towards using assets now.
Thoughts?

I think if you want to keep Butler past his contract we need to make win now moves before the end of his contract. We can do that this year, in the off season, or at next years trade deadline but we need some sort of depth. If we aren't willing to go over the cap to make the team better I think Butler walks. Guys I could see us looking at trading for if the cost is Cole and a 2nd would include Evans, Simmons, Ross, Dudley, Courntey Lee, McDermott, Hezonja, Belinelli. Bigs aren't necessarily a need but given the price I may look at getting one such as Portis, Mirotic, Jamychal Green. If Lebron walks this off season, I'm calling Cleveland to see what they want for Crowder. Outside the box not going to happen but wouldn't a sign and trade in the off season of George for Wiggins be nice!

We should make a trade, but it's gonna be pretty hard to find a good value out there. The first round pick really shouldn't be used, but if it is used it needs to be on a significant role playing wing who can hit 3's and has multiple years under contract. Not a Jared Dudley or Courtney Lee type. Also that pick is pretty much gonna be required to ship out Cole.
An interesting deal to me would be to see if Charlotte would be willing to swap Dieng for Marvin Williams. They make basically the same money and Dieng's deal is 1 year longer. They're locked into a bunch of guys already and are bad this year so they might just be willing to move some furniture since they won't have cap space any way to do anything this offseason. We get a volume 3pt shooter we desperately need. Marvin is on the back end of his career, but he would definitely fill a big hole on our team.

I'd look to move Wiggins. His max deal is going to be a large overpayment with the way he is playing. Look to a team who is looking to rebuild.
How about Wiggins and Dieng for Anthony Davis, lol, they would never. Heck I'd do it for Cousins too if he is making noise. Move KAT to the 4.

Re: Should we make a trade?
As I've mentioned in some other threads, I wouldn't make a deal until after the season ends unless a team makes an offer we can't refuse - like Bazemore and a 1st round pick for Wiggins. Several reasons:
1. We're winning so there's no urgency.
2. We'll have a better idea of our needs next summer. Will Belly get and stay healthy and if so will he re-sign here? Will Wiggins improve this season to the point where we'd really want to keep him and rely on him as part of our core three? What draft picks will be available to us in June? Will Thibs still be here?
3. We'll likely have more options in the summer when we can integrate our draft picks into a deal and when other teams will be ready for big moves.
4. As for Gorgui, he is playing better as he finally adjusts to his bench role. And he's our only legitimate replacement if Taj goes down. So I wouldn't trade him for a wing until the summer when we might be able to fill his spot using our MLE.

Adding to my last post, I'll mention that Wiggins' extension has a poison pill component built in that makes him untraceable as a practical matter until June.

Good point Lip although I think we all know he isn't going anywhere. Wolfson reported the other day on his podcast that if the Wolves wanted to move Wiggins it wouldn't take long to find teams willing to take on that contract. :)
As for a trade sure a minor one I could see I don't think they should move that OKC pick. Wait around for the buyout market which is what Wolfson said they may be doing. He said they haven't had much of any interest in guys that have been available as FA or guys that have been available that have been let go. He said there was no interest in Gary Payton as a 2-way guy. I can get that although I think there could be a spot for him on the roster.

I think a Wiggins deal becomes very viable in June when his contract becomes easier to trade.
