Can I argue a little bit. Not saying I don't want more possessions of pushing the ball but with more fast possession the more energy is used and we'll our starters play a ton of minutes, going to be hard to play in track meets.

Also we are not a good defensive team (has gotten better) well playing slow lowers possessions in the game. So we are the worst eFG% defense in the league so the less defensive possessions the better.

When the playoffs come around traditionally the game slows down, well we will be ready for it when it comes.

In the end we are 8 games over .500 after a 31 win season and 13 playoffs less seasons. Hard to complain to much in my opinion

Yes. It's not often that Kenny, Shaq and Charles all agree on something. But in this case they all agreed the Wolves need to speed things up on the offensive end and that they should be better. Charles said the Wolves should be averaging what they scored tonight. Obviously, he was exaggerating, but point well taken. This team is build to score and should be averaging more points per game with the offensive weapons we have. Shaq noted that the Wolves are 4th in the West, but said the Wolves should still have more wins. He also said, Thibs won't change. They also agreed that Thibs' offense hurts Wiggins' effectiveness. As Kenny said, Wiggins isn't a good spot-up shooter and isn't a good 3-4 dribble guy. They all agreed he's dangerous (I think someone used the words unstoppable) in a fast-paced offense. They also agreed that the pace is better with Tyus at PG.

Like I mentioned in my post above I feel like it could be a slippery slop of the pace increases to much. I won't argue that we shouldn't run a little more but the more we run the more possessions we have to play defense and the more energy we have to use for guys who play tons of minutes

I like that we're 4th in the West and I'm glad we won tonight. But we beat a lottery team playing without 3 of its starters. I like the win, but it's one of so many games where we've played weaker teams that were also missing key guys. Some of those games ended up in unacceptable losses, like the loss at home to the Suns playing without their best player, Booker, and our loss at home to the Sixers playing without Covington.

I think a faster, more productive offense would actually help our defense by putting more pressure on opposing teams. Even the old-school defensive coaching legend, Larry Brown, said early this season that in today's NBA the best defense is an efficient offense. And it's hard to overlook the fact that Kenny, Charles and Shaq all agreed on the need for the Wolves to pick up the pace on the offensive end. Note also that the games haven't been slowing down in the playoffs recently nearly as much as they used to.

I mean we are 5th in offensive rating, 3rd in ast/to ratio, 14th in eFG% and 20th in pace.

I know it is not pretty but damn has it been effective

"The Wolves are finally winning, but they're not winning how I want them to win!"

Obviously, I recognize the arguments that are being made by some insightful posters in this forum. And the above quote is just me poking fun, but the point I keep making is that the wins continue to be there for a franchise that never wins. This isn't even a year where we're expected to be a contender either. This season was about making the playoffs and ending the drought, which we are unquestionably going to do assuming we don't get hit by an injury storm.

Thibs' style might be ugly. It might be hard for you to watch. It might go against everything that people on the outside want. But as long as the team is still adding to the win column like they are, it doesn't really matter. Who are we to say it's wrong when it keeps working?

I think another thing that we need to keep in mind is that this isn't the end result. They are clearly still jelling on offense with all the scorers learning how to play off of each other. Prior to this season, Teague, Butler, and Wiggins were ball dominant scorers for their respective teams. Now they're all on one team with one ball. The good thing is that they're already one of the better scoring teams in the league on talent alone. The better thing is that they don't even fully know how to play as a cohesive unit, which leaves room for upside.

We're still a productive wing away from really making noise, but we're toying around with a 3-5 seed this year. Why can't we enjoy that? Why must every game be an "I told you so" about Thibodeau? I've fallen in the trap too, but it removes some of the fun from the win.

You can keep saying that Cam, and I hear you, you this team any nothing to do with the team which traded KG for Gomes, Big Al and Banks. This team has nothing to do with the teams Kevin Love played on. I get it's nice has fans to have a winner but by acquiring Butler the expectation changed over night.

We are a team that's built to win now. Our cap situation would say that along with our POBO and coach. So my opinion of this team has nothing to do with the last 15 years.

All good points, Cam. I'll quibble with you on only one point. I didn't see this season as being just about making the playoffs -- not after acquiring Butler, Taj and Teague in addition to a full season for KAT, Wiggins and others under Thibs. Many of us thought we should be a top 3 or 4 team in the West. The good news is that we are. So you make an excellent point. I'm worried about the sustainablility of our success over the full season given the flaws I see in how we're playing.

So are you saying this is a championship or bust season?

Also out cap would have been similar with lavine up for an extension also.
