Bazz for Bogut

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

Bogut would be perfect for this team. He's a defensive anchor who is available by Dallas because they want to rebuild. He'll be a free agent, but at his age, he will probably be someone we could sign at a reasonable amount this summer. Lets trade Bazz for Bogut.

Bogut, KAT, Wiggins, Lavine, Ricky
Aldrich, Dieng, Belly, Rush/Dunn, Dunn/Tyus

Dallas has little reason to do that.

I could see Dallas doing a deal like that. As pointed out, Bogut will be a free agent next summer and it's unlikely he'd be part of the Mavs' plans going forward as they start what will have to be a rebuild process. Bazz, on the other hand, could be part of a rebuild and I see where the Mavs might want to give him a test run under Carlisle and develop a relationship that could give them the edge for resigning him if he impresses them. I like the deal if it can be done.

The question is probably more would Dallas prefer Bazz or some random protected 1st round pick from a playoff team? I like Bazz but I would rather have the pick.

I get the idea of this trade but I don't know I the Wolves would really go after Bogut either.

There seems to be some confusion about Bazz's FA status. Dieng and Bazz are in their 4th year. We agreed to a contract extension on Dieng, so he is locked up for many years. While we did not agree to an extension with Bazz, he will still be a restricted FA. So we (or any trade partner) will have the right to match any contract he might sign next summer.

Now in the case of Payne, we did not pick up his 4th year option, so he will be an unrestricted FA next summer...

This is the kind of stupid trade the Wolves have made for the past decade plus which also kept them in the lottery. Rebuild with draft picks and young rookie scale players, not average players coming off their rookie deals. Bazz is not a player you expect will be a central piece, that makes him the worst kind of signing/trade for a team entering a few years in the desert.
