Dragic would be the one with the ball in his hands at the end of games. He wouldn't be in a corner to spot up shoot. His best play in PHX happened because he was running the show and Miami was a poor fit initially because D Wade wanted to run the show. You get a guy like Dragic to be the primary ball handler who can score while Zach and Wiggins play off him spot up shooting and cutting to the basket around him. That's when he is most effective.

I also am heavily against Vucevic for Dunn. Dunn is our best perimeter defender now and is probably already top 10 in the league at his position and he's just a rookie still developing. Vucevic is a double-double machine who does nothing else. He's not a rim protector. He's a bench big on a good team to provide frontcourt scoring and rebounding. I think Dunn can provide more value than that in the future.

Maybe, but I have a feeling Thibs wants to develop our kids. These seems like to much of a win now move.

Another thought on Dunn and why I'd prefer to hand on to him. Thibs has preached the need for mental toughness since coming here and I agree. I think some of our young guys have struggled with that and have wilted a bit under the tough intensity of their new head coach. So one way to look at this current roster is to identify the players with high level talent and then further identify the subset of those players who appear to be truly mentally tough.

Zach and Gorgui are clearly the two who stand out from the rest as the sort of talented AND mentally tough young players you want to build around if you intend to eventually become a championship contender. But I'd also add Dunn to the list, which is another reason I'm reluctant to deal him. Last season I would have automatically put KAT on that mental touhness list, but I'm hesitating a bit based on what I've seen this season. Yet, I still think he's got enough mental toughness to go with his enormous talent. Andrew is the one core player whose mental toughness and intensity remain a big question mark in my mind. But let's see how he develops under Thibs over the remaining 2/3 of the season. There's no questioning his tremendous talent.

But again, I'd hang on to Dunn and would have to be blown away with a trade offer to deal him. And I definitely wouldn't deal him any sooner than next summer.

If Zach is mentally tough I struggle to see it. His 4th quarter numbers and scatter-brained D don't always scream mental toughness to me. But I guess everyone sees different things out there.

Dragic will be 31 in May. I have no interest in giving up anything for him.

I want Dragic if only for the reason that we need good players now to play with our big 3 so they continue to learn how to win and attract future free agents when Dragic gets too old. We can't force our big 3 to carry us this fast they are so young they need help

I agree and there is plenty of data to support this.

Where would we be if we were able to move Wiggins and Rubio and got back Butler and Dragic?

I think I would be willing to throw in any draft pick and bench player not named Dunn to make that happen.

People need to move on from Butler. He isn't coming here. Also Wiggins isn't going anywhere. Have prople been watching the way Thibs has been coaching him?
