Its kind of depressing to watch rubio these days. I remember him playing well vs Wall and other young and up and coming pgs in his first season. now, it seems that they all has passed him by by a lot. The problen with rubio and why a lot of us has sour on him is that he never improved nor did he add anything to his game. Even the flair and awe in his passes are now gone. He is still a serviceable player but he has been left behind by the other young pg's in the league.

I guess a sign of growth for me would be Wig scoring 20 and making guys better throughout the game and making passes to open guys, he did this in the 3rd a bit. Him scoring in iso and not passing the last 6 possessions isn't progress, same thing over and over.

I thought he showed growth in the Milwaukee game with some of his finds. He didn't just make the extremely simple pass in that game, but actually made some reads that I wasn't expecting.

Then Portland did something smart. They trapped him and he took forever to dribble out of it, allowing the trapping guy to recover to his man, instead of making the quick read to get it to someone for a 4 on 3 situation. It was frustrating to watch because guys like Harden, LeBron, Curry, Butler, Westbrook, etc. know exactly how to deal with a trap such that their team ends up with a dunk or corner 3. Hopefully by year 5 or 6 he's as adept at it as those guys are.

5 think he will be solid at this, I mean this is his first year initiating offense. Like we all thought lavine pg bad idea but because of that he is a great two man game player. It takes time it is just super frustrating right now

Mmmmm, not so sure LaVine has improved that much either as a play maker. And when he was playing PG, he certainly wasn't being tasked as much as Wiggins is now.

One of the biggest frustrations I have with LaVine - and sometimes Wiggins - is how often he misfires in using a screen at the top. He sometimes "jumps the screen", meaning he'll go way too early before the screen is even set, rendering it useless. Wiggins often rejects screens on the left because he likes going right so damn much. It's stuff like that that makes you realize just how far these guys have to go as ball handlers/creators.

But I know, I know....patience, development, give it time......

Are we scoring too much?

I'm not complaining about Wiggins. I don't understand why we ask him to do everything in the last 3 minutes of games. You have Rubio on the court to make things easier for the Big 3 . . . why we change our whole offense in the last 3 minutes is a puzzler.

Well, Rubio isn't running much offense in the other parts of the game either these days. I get what you are saying though. Which begs the question.......

If Thibs is going to run a strictly point-Wiggins offense in the closing minutes of a game, why even have a PG out there? Why wouldn't he surround Wiggins with shooters at every position? KAT, Bjelly, Rush, and LaVine? Then off timeouts where we're defense, go ahead and put Rubio or Dunn in there, but why even have either guy in there on offense if they aren't even bringing the ball up?

One nice thing tonight in addition to Wiggins.....God it was nice seeing Brandon Rush effortlessly take and make efficient shots within the flow of the offense as opposed to Bazz's tunnel vision and charges!

(yes, I realize that Rush has generally bombed this year, but he's had such limited opportunity to play).

I've always been a huge Ricky Rubio fan, but there is no question that he never really improved much from his rookie year. He did get better with some nuances of the game - most specifically fewer turnovers precisely because he became less flashy.

That being said, he has a career "+" rating on the court and an even more dramatic net +/- rating. This year has been a different story.

Again, for those that are part of the blame Thibs crowd, there is some ammo out there for them. When you look at the advanced stats like WS/48, VORP, and PER, literally every player in our main rotation except LaVine has either regressed or treaded water compared to last season. And these are mostly young guys still!!!

Yea, it's not easy to do what Tibs is asking of him. Maybe he will develop that and it does take time.

I would like to see Tibs empower Dunn more to initiate offense and keep the ball in his hands instead of giving it up across half court. He has the ability to drive and dish. That dime he dropped to Cole in the lane off a drive was nice and looked natural. He has that ability to drive, kick and finish. He just lacks confidence to do it. He's gonna have bad moments but I hope at some point we see more of that.

I just wish something would change with this team. Bench some people. Trade some people. Try something different. Stop banging your head against a damn wall and change something.

Well, I didn't see the game, but I do see this in the box score...for the 36th consecutive game this season, our opponents' bench played more minutes than ours (even though again it looks like our bench played pretty well despite missing Bazz), and for at least the 10th time this season our starters lost the 4th quarter by double digits.

Gee, maybe more rested starters play better than overused starters at the end of games. Nah!!!!!!!
