Time for a shoulda done this poll

Post by Papalrep »

As a Wolves fan, other than looking at the next draft and our impending lottery pick, this is how I pass the time.Did we take the right guy? I don't think so.

Based on what I've read here, I think a 4th option of "trade the pick" would probably win. But if forced to pick one out of the three listed, I'll take Dunn.

If this is a complete do-over though, this is what I do: hire a young up-and-coming coach like Kevin Ollie, and then trade the pick for two later first round picks. Sign Aldrich, Rush and Hill, just like Thibs did, but do something really way out there and actually PLAY them. Not having Dunn frees up the backup PG spot for Tyus, who gets 15-18 MPG.

50 wins. Ah, what could have been...

Of course we didn't pick the right guy.

The sad part is I'm wondering if the most obvious choice for head coach is gonna turn out to burn us. I just don't know if Thibs can function in a league where giving up 105-107 ppg is reasonable.

I wanted to trade down for Sabonis and Wade Baldwin. I'd still rather just have Sabonis.

I wanted Bender (who got taken ahead of us) and my next choice was to trade down. If I stayed put, I said I'd take Buddy Hield. Guys I targeted for a trade down were guys who who I think have two way potential: Taurean Prince, Luwawu and Patrick McCaw. We could have even bought a pick to get McCaw, who looked fantastic in summer ball/preseason and has played decently in spot minutes. Prince both looks and reminds me of DeMarre Carroll and Jae Crowder and has the size and two way mentality to perhaps develop into a similar style of player.

This draft has been rather underwhelming so far, so we shouldn't feel too bad about Dunn. Zubac, Hernangomez and Thon Maker have been pleasant surprises.

Won't know for a few more years. Rookies by and large are negative players in year 1. We'll see how they all bounce back with an offseason or two under their belt. The real time to play the hindsight game isn't for a few years when we actually know what kind of players these guys are.

That's no excuse. Dunn shoulda been ready from the word go. If we have to wait the same amount of time for Dunn as we would have for any other one and done, then it's botched decision already.

There's just no response for this. Anyone who takes a player for their rookie year production over another player should be fired. It's fucking year 1. Give the guy a damn chance to get better after a real NBA offseason now that he knows what he has to do to get better. I don't know what to say anymore. The expectations on this board are just fucked up.
