Ugh! Denver beats Utah tonight, so we remain 2.5 games back.
That's OK.....Everyone in the bottom half of the Western Conference is grouped so tight, that even Phoenix is still in the mix for the 8th seed, so even though we didn't gain on Denver, we got some separation from the Suns. We have to keep winning these games against Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, etc.

Exactly gained no bring but kept pace and we gained in port, sac, NO. Just keep winning boys 6 of 8.

Next three games at home against Indiana, Brooklyn, and Orlando. Opportunity knocks! Let's keep this thing rolling!

I'd be happy to put any distance between us and another team. The Lakers could be in trouble if the teams that have played few less games than them (like the Wolves and the Suns) go on a win streak.

Cleveland is doing us no favors. First they lose to New Orleans and now tonight they lose to Sacramento. Dammit!

Obviously they need Rubio!
At least OKC beat NO and Portland and the Lakers play each other so someone will lose there. Did you see the Vince Carter spin move tonight? Awesome

When the Wolves were really struggling the first month or so I wanted them to play .500 ball over December or near that and then jump up to .500 or better in January. They are either right on track or ahead of my schedule. They are now 3 games ahead of last year's record. That team finished 15-22 the rest of the season. Let's say the Wolves finish a 1 game over .500 the rest of the way (we can hope for more but we will go with moderate optimism) 19-18. That would put them at a final 37-45 compared to 29-53 record of last year. Hopefully I did all that math right. Anyway as you can see if the Wolves get hot and don't have another significant bad stretch getting in the range of .500 for the season is within some sort of reasonable hope. And remember they are doing this mostly with the young players playing most of the minutes and as we saw last year those guys can come together to go on a solid run in the 2nd half but the difference is that these guys have been playing together all season.

Here's the problem.....Take a look at March. We have 7 home games and 13 away games. That includes games @ San Antonio, @ Golden State and two @ Utah. It could be a tough month.
Our slow start really screwed things up because it was actually a soft-ish opening schedule. By playing so poorly early on, we really made it difficult to get back to .500 because of the difficult back end to our schedule.
That being said, NOW is the time to go on a big run. We have won 6 of 8 and have three consecutive home games. We need to keep getting W's so that we don't go into March still trying to dig ourselves out of a hole.

Sure, but maybe a couple of those games are easier than we think right now. Maybe a top player tweaked an ankle or is resting or whatever. If the Wolves are really playing well they can beat some good teams on the road. In my scenario they just have to play around .500 most of the time and if they do go on a little run here in these next few games that will help the cause.

New Orleans loses and it looks like Sacramento will lose to Houston in an oddly defensive-oriented game.
Now we need Portland and Denver to go down!
(nevermind the fact we'll be playing an angry LeBron on the road tomorrow)
