That's terrific news, monster...thx for posting. It's too bad he had to miss most of SL and the USA Select experience, but that's not as important as missing any of the season. He impressed most of us in his two SL games.
I see Doogie also says Taylor gave him updates on KG and Pek that will be on the podcast he posts tomorrow. I guess I have to start following Doogie...he's our connected guy!

It's amazing to me that Zgoda still has a job. Are these guys unionized or something? It's like employment for life over there at the Strib.
My recent trip back to Minnesota also reminded me of the fact that the same people that were big sports reporters/commentators when I lived there 20+ years ago are the same damn people still today: Sid Hartman, Patrick Reusse, Dan Barreiro, Jerry Zgoda, Charley Waters, Jim Souhan, Chad Hartman....Do these people ever move on to other markets or jobs (or retire eventually) like the rest of us?

First of all on Doogie...id put money on Jon K having more worthwhile connections than him. 2nd why I follow Wolfson is he covers everything when it comes to MN sports. I don't exactly have a big stake in what the Gophers are doing but since I am a Nebraska fan and in the big 10 some stuff he says is interesting from that perspective. There is no doubt he puts in the work to get as much info as possible.
Q about people being the same as they were 20 years ago...Wolfson has said Walters is retiring so that's one guy. There have been people that have moved on to bigger or better things. It seems like Chad Hartman is more talk radio than sports but maybe I am wrong on that one. Wolfson is a guy that's been around but making his way to being more legit I think than even a year ago. Jon K is terrific. Hopefully he sticks around here forever. He is from here and seems to be highly regarded by his employer so unless he wants to get into doing TV or something he seems like a guy that will be here for a while.
Some of those guys you mention I find I really like in one way or another Souhan is actually pretty good on his podcasts. He has a lot of info from all his days covering MN sports but it's also obvious he isn't a beat reported with crazy connections like you would sorta expect. Barreiro Every time I take some time to listen to one of his shows I find him pretty good overall. He seems to do a decent job of having an opinion and not going too crazy which can be hard to to talking on the radio for a few hours 6 days a week. I'll also say there seem to be some pretty good Twins reporters Lavelle Neal is the guy I follow on Twitter and he seems like he knows his stuff. It's not all bad for MN media IMHO.

Glad to hear this. I would rather be safe then sorry with him. The way he plays he will get banged up. I think durability is the thing that will make or break him. I think that is part of what makes Russell so good. Wade was too in his day, but those type of players just fall off a cliff due to getting beat up.
