Pek KG or Payne who would you be most happy not to have back?
Pek KG or Payne who would you be most happy not to have back?
Ok lets say I tell you that one of Pek KG or Payn would not be back. Which guy would you be most happy not having on the roster to start the season?
I am personally still mulling this over and I thought about posting this poll yesterday. There is such a varied set of considerations for each guy its tough to make a certain conclusion. Anyway vote and if you want state your rationale. My rationale would probably reach some sort of book form right now. lol

It was pretty simple for me. Pek and KG both seem like good teammates, and both have a positive influence on the court if either can play. So the only harm in carrying them is the potential loss of a roster spot (although buying one of them out is always an option should a roster spot be needed).
But what does Payne offer? He does not seem to bring anything to the team off the court, and he has yet to show an ability to contribute on the court. He has his own health issue that can limit his minutes. And he has already wound up in Flip's doghouse on at least one occasion.
I understand why we might move on from KG or Pek, but it does not make me happy. Payne on the other hand...

Tim I haven't heard anything about Payne being a bad teammate other than playing too hard and being reckless giving Dieng a concussion. What Payne offers is being healthy and being available something that seems unlikely from KG and Pek the problem is Payne has been so bad a lot of the time you just don't even want to see him out there. Having said that he wasn't worse than Pek when he played last year which I hate saying but it's true. In some ways knowing Pek was gone would be the best case scenario because that means an open roster spot for the next 2 years when Paybe and KG it's only 1 year. If KG can play he will help the team. The question is will he play.
So here is the short story...
If Payne was gone I would probably be the most happy because he sucks. Him being gone is probably the least consequential though because at his salary and standing in the league he could be cut at any time. I'll be surprised if he is on the roster to start the year.
KG not coming back I would hope it's because he retired because he realized his body couldn't do it and not because he moved on to another team etc. I really wouldn't mind if he came back even if he could t play much (and probably would t with the depth we have).
Pek being gone means we were able to move on via buyout or he retired. I have zero confidence he will be able to the help the team on the floor so this SHOULD probably be the no brainer outcome as it allows the team to move on and have that roster spot the next 2 years. The only downside would be if his contract would come in handy for a trade at some point which it could and might be one reason why the Wolves could let him keep trying to play in addition to not being able to keep him from doing it.
Re: Pek KG or Payne who would you be most happy not to have back?
So the choice is a healthy, hyper athletic body lacking the brains to make use of it, or two broken bodies, one a Hall of Famer and the other a previously physically dominant center. I voted Payne because while we can debate the merits of mentorship with KG he gave more to the team in his limited minutes last year than did Payne in a healthy season, I would also rather see Pek's big goofy head sitting on the bench, he a big loveable oaf and I cannot blame him for his body failing him.
Of course now that I've said that they'll cut Payne and he'll go on to be most improved player candidate. On second thought, he's so bad that even if he improves more than any other player in the league he could well still be terrible!

Why isn't there an all 3 option?
I said Pek because then he retired and we might get cap relief. Payne is the guy that has no business being on the team.

Wanted so bad to vote Payne but at least he can give minutes...

I don't expect any of the three to contribute much if at all next season. The one with the best chance of contributing on the court is the guy most likely to be physically capable of playing. That guy is clearly Payne. Hard to say between KG and Pek which one is least likely to be physically capable. So the question in deciding between these two is which one would have the more positive impact on the team from the bench. That's a tough one. KG brings far more energy, NBA experience, knowledge and interest in coaching from the bench and in practice. However, he is also far more likely that Pek to alienate some of his teammates whereas Pek is universally liked by the entire team. If I had to choose, assuming neither one gives up any contact money, I'd probably keep KG. Just a personal preference. I love his energy on the bench and I like the idea of having a guy with a championship ring helping this team in the event we make the playoffs. But it's a very close call for me.

Payne to me is the most likely at this point not to be on the roster because of his salary and standing in the league (or lack thereof). So it's possible he is the least likely to contribute but I know that's going outside of my poll but I thought it was worthwhile to add to your thoughts. Maybe not. :)

If I interpret this correctly, sounds like Pek is on a flight over here today...

I interpret it that he got into an argument with his butcher.
