Wolves' 2016-7 schedule

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

Pre-season schedule has been released, and there are hints that the regular season schedule will be out soon. Here's what we know so far:

October 8- First game against the Heat in Kansas City...less than 2 months away!

October 12- Against the Nuggets in Lincoln...game report requested from monster

October 19 and 21- Last two preseason games will be at Target Center against Memphis and Charlotte

Nothing official out yet on the regular season, but Wolfson tweeted yesterday that the Wolves will be playing on Christmas Day. I believe this is the first ever appearance for our franchise on Christmas, and a true indicator of how they are perceived nationally right now!

Yup, lots of positive vibes heading into this season. The only silver lining of being such a losing franchise these past few years is that I avoid the dreaded blackouts on games shown on NBA broadband when they play on national TV (I don't have the conventional cable channel set-up, so I don't get TNT, etc.) so I get to watch nearly all their games. I suspect that will begin to change this season.

I'm thinking of dumping cable and going with Playstation Vue or SlingTV.

Anybody have any experience with either one... and whether I'll get the games?

I have used Sling's $20 package selectively, like during March Madness and the NBA Playoffs. I might have to use it again during the regular NBA season if a bunch of Wolves games are going to be national. What I love about Sling is that it is VERY easy to use, very easy to sign up for, and very easy to drop. Think, like, the opposite of Cable where it can be a nightmarish experience to extricate yourself from under their thumb. I love simplicity and Sling exemplifies this trait.

As for Sling's quality, it's solid, but it's like anything else you stream. It takes up a lot of bandwidth and sometimes you run into quality issues during peak times. But overall I have been very happy with Sling as an option that I can easily turn on and off without too much hassle or expense.

I saw that both Sling and Playstation have Fox Sports North as options. So I'll always get the games, I assume.

Well, good deal for you then. Since I live out of state FSN isn't an option for me, so I need to pay for the NBA Broadband package to get most games and potentially pay for Sling as well if a bunch of their games are nationally televised and blacked out on Broadband.

Q can you tell me how ESPN, ESPN2, TNT and any another other sports channels (if that's the right term) you utilize work if you can't watch them live? Often I can't watch stuff live but I can watch it later that evening or maybe the next day or something. $20 a month a coupe times a year might be worth it for me. I already have a Roku.

Monster, I don't believe Sling has a built-in DVR function in the same way NBA broadband does. Every time I have used it, it was for live programming that I can watch live. I do know that during those live programs, it didn't have a stop and start function. And I don't know if there is a way to hook a Roku up to it to record things. Sorry....not much help.

What? You ruin EVERYTHING!

I don't watch live tv. Not even sports. Damn it. I assume there has to be a way to use it with Roku/Apple TV that allows people to record. Recording tv has to be incredibly commonplace at this point, right?

It's changed my life.

[Note: One look at any Game Thread (and my very late arrival to it) would reveal my sports watching preferences.]

Q what device do you use to watch Sling?

A friend of mine bought an Amazon Fire TV and had Kodi installed on it. He said it had a lot of stuff for free and watched some sports on it too. Maybe that's something to look into. I just don't always get how all this stuff works sometimes.
