Interesting tweet by Jon K as he announces David Adelman takes a 3-year deal at Orlando. Says Wig was really in his corner, and that he "was incredibly valuable in reshaping offense over 2nd half of season".

I don't know about others, but I think I never gave David a fair shake because of the nepotism angle and because he was such a goofy looking guy. Wig's endorsement plus other descriptions of him as a great development guy makes me wonder if we sold him short.

Where are we now on assistants...still just Saunders and Greer?

It me one time hear Adelman do the half time interview to see he's intelligent, articulate and insightful when talking about basketball. I wish we could of retained him. Jim Pete gushed over Adelman after every halftime interview he did.

I think one of the problems with the staff last year was that nearly everyone was a guy that hung their hats on development based on the knowledge that we have about them which was fine given the roster. The exception was Lowe who was sort of that 2nd in command vet guy but has worked with guards before also. It seemed like the Wolves lacked an offensive mind, a defensive mind and probably some sort of more expert in game guy than Lowe who was obviously the least likely to stick around. Now we're some of those guys better at stuff than we have them credit for? SOMEONE or a collective effort via the coaching staff should get some legit credit for the offensive explosion that happened it couldn't all be those young talented players. You wonder if Adelman was let go because he wanted a larger role than just developing guys maybe have some influence on how a team ran an offense. Maybe Thibs felt Adelman could get that opportunity somewhere else. Just speculating.

It seems like Thibs coming in with a team looking to take the next step would have wanted a more balanced staff besides just some development guys that may have been budding in another area. Obviously he kept Ryan around and it seems as though they liked what Vince Lagarza did as a development guy or whatever too or you would think he would have been picked up by Atkins when he went to the Nets.

It bugged me all season how this coaching staff especially the assistants were termed here by many as one of the worst in the league. I got where people were coming from and the info we have on assistants is typically very little so...it was easy to assume the worst. All of them now have new landing spots and all of them good ones for good coaches who likely got to pick guys they wanted. Lowe has a nice gig with Brooks in Wahington, Gates was scooped up very quickly by Joeger and Adelman got a 3 year deal with Vogel. I'm not suggesting it was the best coaching staff of all time or we should have kept any of the guys that left but it seems like they weren't the incompetent baffons some people made them out to be.

All this worrying for nothing. Looks like Thibs nailed down a good staff.

Interesting comment from Jon K on the Sports Show last night. They were criticizing Jim Pohlad for saying publicly that Terry Ryan's replacement has to keep Mollie as manager, and contrasted it with the Wolves. Jon said Glen wouldn't say it publicly, but he made it very clear that Theydon had to agree to keep Ryan Saunders on the staff as a condition of being hired. I like that story for a couple reasons. One, the loyalty aspect...even if Saunders was not a good assistant coach, it's a low-risk way to honor Flip. But more importantly, I think almost all of us like Saunders as a coach. I've always liked him, but his high-spirited approach to SL this year made me like him even more.
