Great young teams

I was born in 1987 so my view of history doesn't really start until the 90s. Watching the 30 for 30 on the Orlando Magic got me to thinking what were some of the best young teams. Penny and Shaq would have been a dominating duo had Shaq stayed and Penny stayed healthy. Horace Grant said he would have taken Penny in his prime over Kobe in his. Grant played with both. Another team that comes to mind is the Thunder with Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka. So much talent there. To me it appears out Wolves are going to be right in line with those great young teams. Hopefully we get a championship out of it unlike those other teams. What other great young teams stand out to you? Where would you rate the Wolves among them?

Sacramento with CWebb, Jason Williams, Vlade, and Peja stands out as a young group that created a lot of excitement and optimism. Fun team to watch too.

White Chocolate made Rubio look tame with his passing! I loved watching that team!!

I was out eating with my family for someone's birthday when that Magic 30/30 was on. That was a heck of a team. I sort of was frustrated with them winning #1 twice but they were fun to watch. I remember watching that game and Nick Anderson missing those FTs. Unbelievable.

This Wolves team could be pretty special and fun to watch. Heck they were for at least 30 games this year. Like a few MN media members have said buckle up wolves fans. :)

The '04-05 Bulls were pretty damn impressive under first year coach Scott Skiles. Their top 8 guys included four rookies and one 2nd year player. The only guy of that top 8 with more than 3 years experience was Antonio Davis at 11 years. They finished at 47-35 and made the playoffs (lost in the first round).

Just off the top of my head, besides the teams that have already been named, there's two teams that come to mind.

1999-2000 Toronto Raptors: Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter. I wish those two would have stayed together in Canada. Could have been special.

1995-96 Detroit Pistons: Grant Hill, Allan Houston. Those two were dynamic. It gets talked about plenty, but damn it sucks that Hill's career was eventually disrupted by injuries. He was so damn good -- at everything, too.

Parker-Middleton-Giannis seems like a solid trio to build around in Milwaukee. While I'm not sure how much more headroom Middleton has in his game, Parker and Giannis still seem a ways off from their ceiling.

2008-09 Portland Trailblazers: Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Greg Oden, Nic Batum. That core would have been super fun to see grow together. That organization has been robbed on a handful of players' careers being shortened by injuries. I think we got robbed on that one too as basketball fans.

And they had problems with health of guys like Martell Webster too. Even if he just was what he was those few months he was healthy for the Wizards (or when he was actually healthy with Portland) that would have been a pretty nice role player. There were a few years there where GS, Portland and to some extent the Wolves had some damn hard luck in the injury dept. Portland had it toughest because the players they had hurt were actually really good.
