That was a pretty funny moment. I really do think it's real that Thibs just wants a collaborative situation not ultimate power or anything crazy like that.
The press conference was sort of boring. Thibs isn't wildly exciting but he has a certain charm about him. Layden isn't interesting either. Does anyone really care though if there are results? I don't and both guys seem like humble working types. Thibs did seem to get a kick out of the Chicago media guys being there.
The whole day was boring! Thibs doesn't have Flip's open personality or Sam's style or coolness, but I agree with you, monster...he does have a certain charm. Kind of uncomfortable in front of people, but seems like a good guy. Leydon is all Brooklyn slick...loves to hear himself talk, but never really says anything.
The days where Flip would kind of tell us (like on the Funkadelic) what his intentions were are over...these guy keep their cards close to their chest at all times! And that's all right. As entertaining as Flip was, we fans don't need the GM or coach to be our good buddy...we just need them to win.
I did feel when listening to the press conference and to Layden afterward was unless there is something that doesn't click it seems like Milt would be welcome to stick around if he wants to. Milt isnt a guy that craves the spotlight is process driven and seems like a worker. I would think he would fit right in and I would think he would want to stay. Basically he could be in the role Layden just had with the Spurs and that's not a bad deal. Milt isn't charismatic but it's pretty easy to like him and it seems he has done some good work here. Is it me just being a homer wanting him to stay?
I agree, but you never know. Milt may get a better opportunity elsewhere. I'm sure Layden and Thibs want to have some continuity between the assistant coaches, scouts, and player personnel guys. So I expect a few familiar faces to be back. Milt might be one of them. Ryan Saunders could be another.
Yeah maybe the Spurs hire Milt to fill Layden's spot. :)
I like Brian Gates also.
Does anyone really know how much turnover typically happens when changes in leadership like this happens. I mean I'm sure that they will dump a couple people and add some new folks besides assistant coaches and maybe Milt but it's not new leadership comes in and just hacks out all the basketball people and starts over right???
I suppose these questions will ultimately have their answers soon enough in the coming days weeks and months.

Many times (in other sports) the front office isn't fully rooted and changed until after the offseason period is over. It's too difficult to change every component and then function properly. I could be totally wrong though.
