Wolves Hire Thibs

This is a long summation from Zgoda. Nothing too earth shatter which is typical for Jerry but I thought this was an interesting tidbit for a few reasons.

"He also told a story about original owners Marv Wolfenson and Harvey Ratner and how the two business partners came to make decisions together. It's clear he feels an affinity for the parts both men played in giving him his first NBA chance.
I remember the day Wolfenson died in 2013: I texted Thibodeau that afternoon asking if he'd offer some remembrances, thinking it was a long shot because the Bulls were set to play about four hours later and I know how he is with game preparation.
About a half hour later, he called, full of stories and laughter, too. A simple gesture, but I'll always remember that."

First of all...hey Jerry did some work back in 2013. Nice!

2nd it shows Thibs will talk to the media and is willing to have some laughs. I think he has been portrayed as some crazed basketball coach (even before the Chicago stuff went down) and he doesn't care about anything else. That seems to either be only true to a point and Thibs has a heart and a life to a certain extent. He does have a masters in counseling degree after all.

Can we please put an end the notion that Thibs is poor with the media? I said it was ridiculous when it was said on here and it's only been further disproved over time. Wasn't a concern to start with.

Wow. I didn't know Marv died. Maybe he was in over his head as an NBA owner, but there were times I debated on whether or not to attempt to squat at the 394/100 Northwest Club. That place is (was?) paradise.

Wow. I didn't know Marv died. Maybe he was in over his head as an NBA owner, but there were times I debated on whether or not to attempt to squat at the 394/100 Northwest Club. That place is (was?) paradise.

Harv and Marv were a couple great guys, but you're right...WAY over their heads as NBA owners. While wealthy by the standards of an average person, they were dirt poor compared to other NBA owners. They ran the team like a family business in many ways...heck, Marv's son-in-law (who knew little about basketball) was team president the first 3 years.

The old Northwest Club is still there in the same location, but it's much bigger and a Lifetime Club now.

Much bigger?!? Are you sure you weren't at the Pentagon lol?

I knew about the ownership change, but when a place changes hands, and especially to an out-of-town corporation, they sometimes forget what made the place successful (or never knew) and make a bunch of changes. When we were talking Vinyl, I mentioned Oarfolkjokeopus because I heard it had changed hands to a guy who made it primarily rap/funk. I also saw him in that National Taco Bell spot that played during the Super Bowl. Though I am happy for him, I doubt I would go in because rap/funk isn't really my thing. That is a rare case of new ownership going 180 and it working out.

It's good to hear that they kept Northwest the same and (wow) added more.
