Just for fun...
let's play a game. Some of the unbelievable deals being handed out (Hill, Turner, etc.) made me wonder how the current Wolves' roster would be paid if they were all unrestricted free agents. Based on some of the deals being announced today, I think it might go something like this:
KAT: Max deal
Wig: Max deal
Zach: $54 million over 3 years
Ricky: 80/4
Gorgui: 64/4
Belly: 40/4
Bazz: 24/3
Dunn: 15/3
That's $127 million for just 8 players...holy luxury tax! Even a guy like Payne would probably get $9 million over 3 years.
This tells me how valuable a roster Flip has assembled, and also is a warning of tough times ahead from a cap standpoint. Does anyone have any big differences with my estimates above?

I think you're too high on Belly and maybe a little under what Gorgui could get. All in all it's very depressing to think about. Thanks for shining light on it. :d
Re: Just for fun...
This is precisely why the Wolves should sit out free agency this year short of signing a superstar. There are a lot of stupid contracts being handed out this summer that teams are going to regret in short order, it will likely continue next year. Once the excess cap space created by this new contract is used up then teams will have to reign in their spending.
As has been mentioned in another thread, this will ultimately end up a have/have not league where the best players are payed ridiculously and the rest are bottom feeding the leftovers. Currently it's a sellers market, thus the stupidity we're seeing with average or worse players getting asinine paydays. Be smart, be patient, let everybody else spend drunkenly, let everybody else suffer the hangovers. Don't do anything that will have this team in a bind in a couple years just as their young studs come up for their second contracts.

Yeah, probably high on Belly. Maybe a little high on Ricky too?

I think you have Ricky pegged pretty well.

I may have just dislocated my shoulder patting myself on the back, but it looks like I made a pretty accurate prediction back in June about the market for Gorgui.

Did you negotiate the contract and now gloat about it here?

Wow. Belly at $10m per with a negative PER, and Blond Ricky at $20m per with a single digit PER. I got the wrong agent.
The cap is going to $102m next year, and then it will flatline. The party's over. And even if it wasn't: Belly, really?
