If Golden State..

Post by Porckchop »

Somehow retains it's 4 main guys for the foreseeable future what do the Wolves have to do in order to be their biggest threat every year?

Stay the course with who we have...

In 2 years..

KAT > Draymond
Wiggins < KD
Lavine = Klay
Ricky/Dunn < Steph
everyone else on wolves >> everyone else warriors

I think we'd be very competitive with this team if we hold our current roster. Yes, our top 4 would only be equal to their top 4 but our role players and bench would be better. I'm talking about guys like

Belly
Gorgy
Shabazz
Dunn
Aldrich

being better than

Livingston
Iggy
Pachulia
D West
McGee
Thompson

Also, best player on the floor in 2 years is KAT.

Optimism is great.

I guess.

I agree with the stay the course idea. This team has a lot of talent and while we have to see how it ends up matching up with the top teams when we hopefully get there I do feel optimistic about being able to compete as a true contender. This team could also add a key FA at some point.

By that point I fully expect curry or Durant to be injured often.

There is nothing we can do. Seriously, the team Golden State has assembled is the best ever on paper. There simply is no comparison, unless we add LeBron. They had the best season in NBA history and then added Durant. That's crazy. All we can hope for is that they age fast and injuries start to slow them down by the time we start peaking.

I agree with most in staying the course. Can't wait to see Tibs defense defend GS this year but more in the years to come when the players are more disciplined with his principles. I have no doubt Dunn is going to be an impact player on defense. They won't have an answer for KAT! I've heard plenty of analyists say we will de a destination for free agents in the coming years, a lot can change.

It's theoretical but what do you have to do to stop GS? Defender the perimeter. The Wolves happen to have 2 PGs that could be top level defensive PGs. Can Wiggins slow Durant? Idk maybe not but if you need a stop late throw Towns on him and see what happens plus as it has been mentioned GS probably will have no answer for Towns. GS is going to be able to add solid players around those top guys for a while but the Wolves may have a team that could be an interesting matchup if they can really defend the perimeter.

We will give the Warriors problems sooner than you think. We are going to have the best player on the floor, and that means a lot in the NBA. Our young guys will have the same type of maturation that Klay and Draymond had. Not saying we are going to knock them off their perch in the next two years, but anything beyond that is in play.
