If you want to keep a player in today's CBA it's not hard to do it 8 years for guys you drafted. You get 3+1 on a rookie deal and then either extend them 4-5 years or match a 4 year offer. That's 8-9 years and we're just on years 2 and 3 for our core and Dunn might join them. It's just too early to give up the long term hope they stay together for a short term play when it would create a big hole that the top teams in the West would destroy us with. You lose Wiggins and who are you putting on KD, Lebron and Kawhi? That alone eliminates any possibility at a title no matter how good Towns and Westbrook are. You just aren't getting past those 3 teams with Bazz and whoever playing the 3.

I've stayed out of this completely hypothetical thread. This post Kahns makes a ton of good points. Basically if you do this deal you have to look to make a deal to get a SF and Dunn would be the guy you could consider moving to make that happen but who would you get? Another option would be to add something to get Roberson from OKC in the deal.

It's an interesting thing to consider and talk about. Carry on.
