Does anyone think the aggressive push for Gasol after signing Cole sends a strong signal that KG told Thibs last week that he isn't coming back? If he said he was coming back, I'm not sure Thibs would be going after a 7th big man in Pau (assuming Pek is definitely out).

That was the first thought I had upon hearing of them still pursuing Gasol. With a two year deal for Gasol that would mean worst case scenario they would have both his and Pek's salaries dropping off their cap at the same time. Talk about preserving flexibility, I like it!

I think its safe to say Pek, Payne, and KG are not in the rotation equation. KAT, Pau, and Gorgs are going to be the main bigs with Nema and Cole cleaning up the role slots.

Anyone know if we can Amnesty Pek next year?

Was just typing something similar. Payne and Pek hold zero weight and with KGs and Gasols age we should carry 4 capable other bigs.

I'm not sure adding Gasol and Cole means anything. Let's be straight up honest. The Wolves have 2 bigs before the offseason started you can count on and that's Dieng and Towns. Bjelica is promising but everyone else including him is a question mark and Bazz is the only other guy that you feel good at all about play as a small ball PF and the wolves aren't exactly stacked with wings. I think Payne would be gone (meaning likely camp cut)

Are we definitely going after Gasol still after signing Cole? At 20 Mill, we would hit the cap and our 15th guy would be at the minimum. I was kind of hoping to see how things play out with Durant first in case there are teams unloading players with attractive contracts or attaching picks. There was a rumor at draft time tht Jeremy Lamb was being offered with a first round pick attached to him. I wouldn't mind a deal like that since Lamb could have a role here and a future pick would be sweet.

Tough to complain though if we land Gasol.

Either option is good. Gasol or bargain shop. The last team with money and roster space will get some very good values. I also hope we can structure our remaining deals so that we can be a player in free agency next year.
