Our 2017 capspace depends on how Gasol and Aldrich's salary were structured. Until we see actual figures, lets assume its equal each year. If so, we hit 94 million for this year and next year we can deduct 6.5M in salary (mostly from KG and Payne dropping off) for guys we are likely to keep outside of Dieng and Bazz. If we don't include Bazz and Dieng's qualifying number, we can deduct 7.6M. So the math is 94- (6.5 + 7.6) = 79.9 Now the salary is projected to increase to 108M. If the projection is right that would give us a total of 28.1 to sign Dieng, Bazz and whomever else we want.

I am not worried about the cap. Steps can always be taken to make more cap room, such as a Pek buyout and using the stretch provision to lessen the cap impact next year.

Plus it is premature to assume Bazz will even earn a spot in the rotation, let alone deserve a 10+ mil new contract. It is a balancing act between improving the team now and planning for the future. I trust Layden and Thibs will use good judgement.

Pek, Gasol, Aldrich, and Rubio would be about 55 by themselves..

Future, see the chart in my post above. Our committed payroll including Pau, Dunn and Cole (but minus G and Bazz) is $57 million.

LST, I think Future is right. The 29 Million Figure only includes the salaries in black (Ricky, Pek and Belly's). It doesn't include the red salaries for those like Wiggins, KAT, LaVine who we will surely extend. The Hoops Hype salary chart also doesn't stretch out the KMart salary.

Thank you. I was sure I was at least in the ball park, but I've had a few beers today. I opened that link, and started to question, but those numbers do not add up.

Sportrac has us at 59+ million next year if we pick up all the team options and extend qualifying offers to Dieng and Bazz. Add Pau's 22 and we'd be at 81+ leaving us about 28 million in cap space next year with 11 players (that includes Bazz and Dieng). That might be enough to keep Bazz and Dieng or dump a small contract like Belly to open the space to sign someone to a big max if we want to go that route.

Did you consider the increase of all the contracts? Also Dunns contract isn't on that list. I'm coming up with closer to 85mil.

Ha, maybe that's my problem...not enough beers. Yeah, I only added the contracts in black, so we have to add in all the contracts in red which add up to another $22 million. So the 8 players in black and red add up to $51 million. Add another $34 million for Pau ($22), Cole (7) and Dunn (5), and we would be at $85 million, just like you got in your post above. So with the cap estimated to go up to $108 million, we'd have $23 million to spend on Gorgui and Bazz without going over the cap.

I'm estimating Gorgui and Bazz could command $30 million in salary, so if we wanted to sign them (which we could under the Bird exception, we would be $7 million over the cap (but below the lux tax). If Bazz and G proved to be valuable players, I'm sure that's a move Glen would be happy to make.

Whew...math!

LST - did you take into account that your 85 mil included their current salary? So the 23 mil can be used to INCREASE their current salaries...

Have we heard anything/found a site on the projection of the cap after 2017/18. Are we looking at another likely 10+ Mil again?

A Gasol get would be quite the get, although I think we're a long shot behind the Blazers and especially the Spurs.
My biggest concern would be that with the move have they left enough on the table to address perimeter shooting?
