My point is, while Tyus may not be in the regular rotation, I am very confident he will ultimately see more minutes than he did last season. That's OK for a 20-year old late first rounder. We need to keep developing him IMO.

But once Dunn fell onto our laps, it sort of changed everything. I know some thought Dunn could play SG and that would allow Tyus to get onto the court. We haven't really seen that though in pre-season. So where does Tyus fit? It would take an injury to Rubio or Dunn to get him out of a suit and tie most nights. And if that happened, would they turn to Tyus to fill PG minutes or LaVine? IDK. He's not really an asset to the team if they are not going to play him. So, if we can flip him for a more usable asset/need, then why not?

Good post. I'm actually not against trading Tyus for a more usable asset but I'm not sure what his value is. I'm just not sure he has enough value to bring back something worth dealing him for. I mean if we could get back a young wing player that looks like he could be a nice rotation player for this team now or in the foreseeable future sure that makes sense. A first round pick? I kinda would rather keep Tyus but yeah that would probably make sense. Again I just don't know what value he has so I'm assuming he isn't going to bring back something worthwhile because so don't know and I personally like the guy and I like having young depth because you just never know what is going to happen and Tyus is cheap and they have Tyus Rubio and Dunn under contract for a few years so it's not like they have to do anything and they have roster flexibility to add other players or even a different vet PG if they need to.

Fair points. I'm not trying to push Tyus out the door either. I'm approaching this more from the angle of another team coming to us as in the reports that have been out there. I would have no problem holding onto him unless their was a fair return. I think one last consideration might be if there is any value having a seasoned vet as your 3rd PG vs. a young/unproven guy. It's tough to develop too many young guys at once and we still have our fair share. I just don't know how much Tyus can grow/develop if he doesn't actually get to play. Therefore, if we actually do need a 3rd PG, would it be better to have a known commodity or just cross your fingers Tyus can do it? IDK. We're sort of shooting for the playoffs this year and I think all we need from a 3rd PG is to not screw things up when called upon. Regardless. It's not our decision. Real games/rosters start soon. Let's see what happens!

Good conversation. No doubt that a more legit vet as a 3rd PG playing the minutes Tyus might if there were injuries makes sense. Like I have said before I don't think Tyus being on the roster keeps that from happening. If Tyus doesn't get minutes yeah it probably hurts him developing but he is pretty young and developing his body is a pretty big deal too. It's good to have a young guy that teams seem to at least have some interest from other teams. He at least has positive value. I'm hoping the Wolves are aggressive in looking at guys that other teams cut. I'm looking forward to the season too. Let's get this thing started!
