Keep waiting Wolves keep waiting.
We should have re-signed him for that price, smiles and all. That's not bad for his age. Although Thibs might have murdered him, so maybe just as well.

Dude is about to turn 29 is a mediocre 3 point shooter that's probably a decent defender. He is a decent vet player (been saying that for a a few years) but I would rather hope to sign some random guy for the vet min than pay him 6 million a year for 3 years but that's just me.
Re: WOJ Live: Free Agency Show
Looking at bargain bin guys...
Isaiah Canaan is a guy that I intruiges me a little bit if you can sign him for basically the vet min. Why would I say that despite the guy obviously having some big time warts?
Dude jacks up a ton of 3's 63% of his FGs were the least of any year of his career and that was his rookie year. He shoots a solid percentage from that range. The Wolves could use a volume 3 point shooter. It seems he basically was moved to SG by Philly last year. I wonder if he could be sort of a JJ Barea in that if he was put in the right role he could've pretty valuable. He is small but the Wolves happen to have 2 big PGs he could play with and he could probably play next to Lavine some with both guys maybe just looking to make plays if they were playing against bench guys. He seems like a guy like Nate Robinson and Aaron Brooks that Thibs has worked some magic with before. If he comes for the price where you can basically cut him and bring in another guy if he doesn't work out he may be worth a shot.

Guys, we're like almost $20 million BELOW the new cap minimum. That's a lot of money sitting there needing to be spent! This could get really interesting if the big and medium dogs keep going elsewhere.
Before you know it, we'll be begging Mickael Gelabale to come here for $10M per year!

Nah we will just max out Hummel
Once again they don't HAVE to spend that money but they will be able to signs some guys. There are still some nice players available. Look at the FA list below.
http://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/
Here are some guys worth at least legit rotation minutes for the right price would include:
Zaza (Dallas has tons of money wouldn't think they would let him leave)
Ezeli (at the right price)
Gerald Green
G Vasquez
Gerald Henderson
Crawford
Spieghts
Jordan Hill
Nene (prefer someone more likely to stay healthy)
David Lee
Remember the restricted FA game has been teams either resigning their own guys and the Bucks throwing money at Delly. There are some good to solid players yet to be considered there.
There is a decent chunk of money out there but the cupboard isn't bare either. There are also some unrestricted youngish guys that may be worth taking a shot at giving them a fairly cheap deal and hope they turn out to be something more.
Terrance Jones (could be a steal)
Andrew Nicholson
Lance Thomas
Quincy Acy
There are more but this post has already gone on too long. My point is there are still worthwhile guys available for the Wolves to spend money on that can help. I like what the Wolves have done so far which seems like nothing but restraint can be pretty impressive.

I'm not really bothered by the Wolves sitting out the insanity that has taken place this past 24 hours, at least they're not saddled with a contract they're going to regret as soon as this upcoming season and they retain plenty of flexibility moving forward.
I'd rather be a young Wolves team with all kinds of upside in addition to cap flexibility than a Knicks teams throwing too much money at players in the hopes the can be competitive, yet still with no real chance.
I don't think we have enough information to make that conclusion yet. All we know is that the Wolves haven't completed any deals...we don't know what kind of offers have been made. This is either good news, or bad news. If Thibs has made offers that were less than 4 years, and players turned them down because they wanted the security of a 4th year, I think he is probably making the right decisions. But if he is making competitive offers and players are choosing to go elsewhere because they don't like Thibs or don't see us as an attractive destination for whatever reason, that's not good. And we really don't know what's going on...just that nothing has happened yet. On balance, I feel good that we haven't entered into any bad deals that could hamstring us later. But as Q says later in this thread, we have $20 million we have to spend to get to the cap floor. There are still some players out there that we could spend that money on wisely, but the last is dwindling fast. I think something has to happen soon, or we could end up shelling out that $20 million for players that aren't going to help us much.
Re: WOJ Live: Free Agency Show
So I guess we have made 2 unsuccessful offers, with 1 more coming down the pipe to Pau. And we have made a lot of calls to "Plan Bs"...
Darren Wolfson ?@DWolfsonKSTP 39m39 minutes ago
#Twolves have checked in on FA big/Bloomington native Cole Aldrich. Just add to the call list. Offer list was Deng, Lee, and will be Pau.

Once again we don't HAVE to spend that money. There are at least 30 guys worth spending some decent money on. Chill out and enjoy the nice weather this weekend here in Minny. :)
Edit:
LST I do agree that we don't know for certain if the Wolves are getting turned down because of prudence or otherwise. However we also haven't seen the Wolves spend 10 million per on a career backup player yet. I think you can read in between the lines a little. They seem to be sticking to their guns on who they want what they are willing to pay and the years. Maybe not but it looks that way.

Re: WOJ Live: Free Agency Show
I'd really like to get Cole Aldrich now that so many of my other desired targets are off the board. I'm glad he's on our radar now. Cole is 27 so he could be a long term player here.
