To say Stephen Curry is unbelievable doesn't really give him enough credit. I've only seen this type of dominance in a team sport once, and that was when Wayne Gretzky was in his prime. I'm going to make a knee jerk reaction and say that Curry has surpassed Lebron in terms of value and I don't think it's really that close anymore. Enjoy him while you can, because it might be a long time before someone like that come along again. Here is the we had no chance tonight 2 + 1:
1) We need a point guard that can stay on the court. I've long been one of Ricky's biggest supporters and I love his game. but as Papal said and I've said many times, part of being a good player is staying in the lineup. If you can't, you really aren't all that good. For the first time I'm starting to think of this team beyond Ricky. We will have to see how this plays out this year, but that high draft pick we make in June might have to go to a point guard.
2) The analyst Brent Barry had the best commentary I've heard (other from myself) regarding our offense. He said if you don't have 3 point shooting, you need to find other ways to compensate for that lack of offense. He continued for the Wolves that means getting out on the break and using our athleticism to get easy baskets. He is absolutely 100% right. I've been saying it for 2 years, we have to get easy baskets out of transition and we have the players to do it. Now the team needs to make a commitment to it. Of course you can't run much when you are always taking the ball out of your own basket. So tonight it wouldn't have mattered. But until we can find some shooters who can make the defense pay, we need easier scores.
Plus 1 - The team fought really hard and stayed relatively close even though no one played particularly well. So I guess that's a small silver lining. I'll note the efforts of a couple guys I picked on last game - Shabazz and Gorgui, and Andre was effective on the offensive end. I called the Warriors by 15, so I was only off by a couple points. Shame on the optimists for thinking we could actually win this game.
And that's Cool's 2 things I didn't like Plus 1.

I'm a big fan of Jamal Murray for this team regardless of who Sam Mitchell thinks is a point guard or whether or not Ricky Rubio can stay healthy. I don't know if we'll have the top-five pick required to draft him, but he's the missing link to this impressive Wiggins-Towns dynamic we have in Minnesota.

We just have too many hesitators from 3pt range. They all have a window, pump fake nobody, said window closes and then they make weird plays. I don't know why they do that. I'm comfortable with pretty much anybody not named KG, Dieng and Miller launching a 3 when it's open, but they just don't do it. We just have way too many plays a game where we pump fake nobody, the defender closes out softly knowing we don't shoot 3's and then we just drive into a defender in good position. Let em fly.

Who is he, college freshman? If so where is he going to play? Where have you seen him play?

Isn't he the guard who played with Wiggins and Bennett on team Canada? Pretty sure that guy went/is going to Kentucky.

Yep that's him.

Cool here are a couple thoughts about the offense and I do agree with both you and Barry.
1. The Wolves have gotten a lot of good looks this year and yeah it's probably not a wild exciting offense. They are pretty low on efficiency right now but I think that's something that can come up. Getting to the line is one thing they do to help and they make their FTs. I haven't seen as many long 2's as last year either. Maybe longer 2's than one would like but not many of those step or so inside the 3 point line shots we saw last year that were a little maddening. It's progress. Lol
2. Right now they are 8th in possessions per game. That makes me think they are playing pretty fast. Sam has said they want to play faster but they have to rebound. Towns and Bjelica and Dieng might be doing well enough there lately to let them get out even more. We will see.
3. How much have they worked on offense this year? Based on their defensive play I wonder if offense is something they haven't spent as much time on as you might like which leads to more rudimentary offense.

I agree with your points in the 2+1, cool. Yes, we need Ricky on the court to be competitive. But give the optimists who predicted a win a break...those predictions were made after ricky had participated in walkthroughs and was expected to play. After he was declared out, all bets were off. I'm not saying Ricky would have stopped Curry because nobody can, but he would have had more success than Zach and Andre.
It was a fun night at TC with a full house and some old-fashioned high-scoring basketball. Curry and Green are unbelievable players, and it would have been an entertaining game even if the Wolves hadn't made their run...but pulling within 6 made it a lot more interesting.
I will say this about Golden State. They are a terrific team, but this was the first time I have seen this Warriors team live, and they are quickly becoming an easy team to hate. I've never liked Klay Thompson, but I never realized until tonight what pricks Green and Curry are...in fact, I kind of liked them both just watching them on TV. All three of them play with a lot of arrogance...lots of posturing and dickish celebrating after a good play. They are Clipper-like in their whining about fouls. And Draymond Green might be the dirtiest player in the NBA right now...he makes Bruce Bowen and Karl Malone look like boy scouts. The Warriors are now officially my Western Conference team to hate (yeah, I know, it's going to be a long season for me :-( )
