Atlanta might blow up its roster
The Hawks are reportedly considering trading away their core players of Al Horford, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague at the trade deadline.
The Hawks haven't been able to recapture the magic from last year's 60-win season, and it's clear that while they're a playoff team, they are no championship contender. Horford is in a contract year, and Atlanta may not be willing to sign him to a max-deal this offseason. The Magic, Celtics and Nuggets have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Horford, and Atlanta is also listening to offers on Teague and Millsap.
This might give us a legit shot at Horford. KAT and Horford are teammates on the Dominican team and would form an awesome pairing.

I've heard the Teague rumors. They seem to think Schroeder is ready.
And unloading Horford might make sense if they don't think he's coming back... or worth a max deal in Atlanta.

I'd give them Bazz and Dieng for Millsap.

Yes. If Horford is willing yes, but you have to be smart on these moves. We would need a guarantee of resigning with us, and we should play hardball. If we're really an attractive destination for Horford we should have leverage and don't need overpay in terms of trade assets.

Martin + Dieng + Bazz for Horford with the expectation that you're going to give Horford a max contract this summer. I'd do it. It's a risk, but it's worthwhile, IMO.

Salary filler to make it work. 2 young players who are borderline starters still on rookie deals seems like fair value for a good 30 year old vet. I'd say Dieng has played well enough for us in this recent stretch to make him and Bazz worth a borderline all-star. Dieng is averaging 15/9/3/1 on 63/14/70 splits as a starter.

Muhammad is largely expendable.
And while I dig Dieng for the most part, and really dig his improvement... he doesn't hold anything close to the same value as Millsap around the league. Millsap has shown value for multiple playoff teams, while adding to his game for years. I'd think some teams might even opt for him over Horford. Both guys are immensely versatile. Millsap is going to his 3rd straight All Star Game. There's nothing borderline about him at this point.
Dieng has finally found a spot as a starter for a couple of weeks now for one of the worst teams in the league.
[Note: Problem is... and what I really hate about the new CBA... is that Millsap is yet another guy nearing the end of his deal. Contracts are so short, so timing is everything. It makes more sense for a playoff team to get him for the 16/17 seasons than it does for a team like the Wolves that would be looking at a low-seed at best even with Millsap next season before probably losing him or giving him one last huge contract nearing the end of his career.]

This is funny. Dieng is a borderline starter, and Bazz is simply not as good as people want to believe him to be. And in return we get Millsap or Horford, both top 5 at their respective positions. Huh, this seems too easy:)
And I don't know of any guarantee we can get from Horford, as I don't think contracts can be discussed in season. Like Cam said, we would just have to chance it.
Regardless of Horfords FA status, we aren't getting either he or Millsap for Dieng and Bazz. I actually think Dieng is a fine start to a deal, but Lavine or someone else will need to go for Atl to look at it IMO.
