Martin Officially on the Trading Block

Nothing really new except trading Martin is obviously now a matter of time. It does sound like teams have already talked to the Wolves. A couple of rumored teams were the Clips and the Knicks. I wonder if Martin ends up being a part of one of those multi-team deal where some moderately valued vets like Martin and Crawford change teams and the Wolves end up with some scraps including some 2nd rounders.

Saw that Kings might be interested. Not sure what they'd offer though. I highly doubt they'd trade Collison since he is a vital player for them. They probably offer up Belinelli and I'd pass. He's a horrible defender with the worst RPM of any shooting guard. I'd rather McLemore, Casspi or a second rounder.

Bellini is fine. Sorta. Kinda. He proved his worth on a good team off the bench (SAS). Apparently, his value is less on a bad team (Sac). I think that would have good teams and not bad ones chasing him.

I'd do Martin for Marco but I don't see that happening. He fits better as a vet scorer shooter (and can handle the ball some) better than Martin going forward and could play more SF than Martin also. He would be easy to move down the line for something but I don't see that deal happening for a number of reasons. Who knows with the Kings though I guess.

Yes, RPM is real plus minus and I really like that stat as a way to get a truer sense of value beyond just other metrics.

The only reason I mention Belinelli is his contract is close enough to KMartin. At first blush, I would consider the deal as Belinelli has a reputation as a good 3 point guy but my concern is that we would be adding a terrible defender to a second unit which is already a very bad defensive unit. If we trade KMart and/or Bazz, I'm hoping their replacement is a significantly better defender.

Martin and Payne for Markieff Morris? I've brought him up before and I know he isn't a popular pick but he is in the perfect age range to grow with our group and would give the team good versatility up front. Good contract and is a considerable upgrade over Payne. Not sure if Suns would want Martin but maybe with Bledsoe being out for a while.

Right now, Markieff Morris seems like a ticking time bomb. (has his assault case been settled yet?) While acquiring him could pay off huge for somebody willing to give him a chance... I don't see how bringing in such an immature, regressing malcontent is good for a team with such a young core. If the team is still dedicated to the mentorship angle it went with this season, bringing in Morris could undermine it.

As for Morris learning from those mentors... I'm not seeing it.

Good point about the Suns pick although it seems like with the microscope on coaching that exists that the organization might still be pushing to win.

Edit: the pick you are thinking of belongs to the Lakers and the Suns traded it to Philly.

As for Markieff, his brother had been doing great in Detroit by all accounts. It might not mean anything but it could be a good indicator of his demeanor going forward. They seem like two peas in a pod.

What can we realistically get for a guy on the wrong side of his basketball 30's? He's also been the worst rotational player on this team this year. I don't see how we pull the wool over another teams eyes for more than a 2nd rounder or an equally flawed player which at this point would be subtraction by addition.
